A Criminal Legacy Challenge
Premise
You just got sacked from your job, the bills are stacking up and you and your wife are trying for a baby. To provide for your family, you decide take up a job as a Though Guy for the infamous Landgraab family.
Start:
Make your founder and their spouse. This is optional though, you can make your Sim marry a premade townie/npc as well.
Move your founder to a 20x15 lot, you can build your own house or get one from the gallery. If you have Tiny Living installed, you can also let them live in a Tiny house.
Use a starting fund of 300 simleons. (You can use cheats to do that of course.)
Rules:
General:
- Stay away from cheats and mods that will improve your mood and family funds. The future generations will always tell the story how the Founder had started with nothing and how later generations improved their status.
- The heir must always start a criminal career.
- The heir must always marry a female.
- Optional: You can create a rival crime family and/or a cop family.
- Optional: You may rotate between families to keep your game fresh. I advise to put aging in unplayed households off and you play with a standard set of days per family. I basically only play with the current generation and when the current head of the family dies, I only play with next direct generation and let the older one’s do their thing. My standard is 3 days per family.
Family:
- Have one specific family trait that will run down the family line. (I recommend the Family trait, because it’s all about the family). The other traits must be random.
- Divorce is not allowed for the founder and heirs. They may remarry if the wife dies early.
- Though sons are the traditional heirs, if there are only girls they can be the heir, but their spouse has to take the family name.
- Daughters marry acquaintances of their father or brothers. You can disown them if they marry outside this circle.
- If you have more than one son, the one with the highest grades will become the heir. Brains are important than brawns. If they all have high grades, then it will be the oldest.
- Daughters that do not have at least an A, must stay at home with their mother until they will marry and even then they are not allowed to have an career. Daughters with an A may start a career, but have to give up their job if they decide to marry.
- Same-sex couples are only allowed in secret (until the generation rules states otherwise). If the relationship is discovered by the head of the family, they are banished from the family and if they still live in the family house, they must move out.
- Marriage between second cousins is allowed as soon as the game let’s you.
- The heir can never have any blood relation with his spouse.
- Affairs and illigitimate childs are allowed, even for the founder and his heirs. If you have a illigitimate child you may initiate him in to the family, but he/she can never become an heir.
Optional: University
- Not allowed until at least generation 3 and then only for the heir.
- From generation 4 you can let more children go to the university, but sons must have at least a B+ and girls must have an A.
- The heir must always major in Criminology.
- Let a sibling start a career in Law: Private Attorney branch, he will become your consigliere.
- Let them move in a dorm.
- I highly recommend to turn aging off during University. I personally am more a fan of the Sims2 style University and I don’t want to lose precious time with my families. I’m also not against mods that you can let you graduate University with lesser than 12 points.
Optional: Get Famous
- From generation 3 you may use fame and reputation. Will you be the cities angel or devil?
Optional: pets
- Are allowed from generation 1, but only one pet at a time, with the exception of small pets.
UNTIL STATED OTHERWISE EACH RULE WILL CONTINUE IN THE NEXT GENERATION.

Despite your poor beginnings, you are smart and bright. But your prospects are low and your father made sure you took the same road as him. But you are to smart for being just a Crimelord… You will make sure rise the ranks and become a name to remember.
- You can have more control in having babies.
- Reach level 10 of the Boss branch.
- Make sure you are acquainted with your fathers friends and their families and take over your fathers group.
Generation 3: Setting the rules.
Your father made a name, you will earn the respect.
- Get a degree in criminology if you have University installed.
- You may now move out of the 20x15 lot and in to a lot of your own choosing and size.
- You can only reach level 10 of the Boss branch if your father is officially retired.
- If you have brothers one of them must start a career in business, you must have good relationship with this brother.
- Make sure you are still acquainted with family members of your Founders gang.
- To keep good appearances, donate money and do charity work.
- If any of your children are ready to marry, you must host a party.
Generation 4: Open for business.
It’s time to launder some money!
- You can now send your other children to college.
- Open a retail or restaurant.
- Your wife and daughters can work in this business and make sure everything goes well. Make sure the employers are mostly relatives like aunts, uncles and cousins.
- If you more than one brother, make sure one of them will start a career in business. If you have seasons or university installed; they may also start a career in politics or law. You need good relationships with your siblings. If you don’t have any brothers, cousins or brother in laws are allowed.
Generation 5: Top of the world
Your family name is notorious, everyone fears and respects it… Will you keep this legacy going or will it crumble.
- You must now own more than one retail or restaurant.
- Same sex couples are now allowed in the family, but only after the generation 4 heir has passed away.
- Your wife can now start a career in culinary, painting, writing or be a freelancer. Your daughters can also start a career if they at least graduated with a B.
- When you have more than one brother, make sure one of them starts a career as an Astronaut, Smuggler branch.
- If you have a sister, make sure she grades an A. She must start a Criminal career, Oracle Branch. You must have a good relationship with this sister. If you do not have a sister, a brother may also take on this role.
The challenge officially ends here, but you can always continue if you wish.
EVENTS:
Generations 2 till 5 must have an event.
You are more than welcome to choose your own events, but you can also use the one’s written below
Use a dice to choose the event that will happen. These events must occur before your current heir is an elder!
1. As loyal as Tom Hagen.
Your son has befriended an orphan boy. You will adopt this boy in your family and love him as much as your own children.
- Adopt a boy that will be the same age as your heir and get a good relationship with him. The boy and your heir will grow up together and get the same chances. If this event happens during generation 2, this boy is allowed to go to college with your heir, but must major in history and start a career in Law: Private Attorney branch.
2. No respect for the family
You find out that one of your sisters is being abused by her husband and want to take revenge.
(If you do not have any sisters, you throw the dice again.)
- Throw a dice, if you throw an even number, you can kill off the husband in question. However if you throw un uneven number, the standoff will not be your favour and you will be killed instead. If you do not have an male heir yet, you can choose to let the legacy continue by a daughter, a younger sibling or a cousin, provided he directly descents from the founder.
3. Enemy from within.
You think that someone in your inner circle has betrayed you and decide to take revenge.
- Throw a dice. If you throw an even number the betrayer will be a family member. If throw a uneven dice, the betrayer is a close friend or a member of the Founders gang. This sim must be killed off.
4. Assassination
Someone has ordered a hit on you!
- Throw a dice. If it lands on a 2 or 5 you are hit and killed! If you do not have an male heir yet, you can choose to let the legacy continue by a daughter, a younger sibling or a cousin, provided he directly descents from the founder.
5. An enemy you will never beat…
Your spouse has contracted an illness and will die by result…
- Kill off your spouse. You are free to remarry.
6. The cops are on to you.
You thought you bribed them all, but some resisted… After a thorough investigation those cops decided to arrest you and you might lose everything….
- Throw a dice, if it lands on 1 or 4 you have to resign from your job and start over… If not, nothing happens and you have successfully evaded the law.
