A Day In The Life: Victorian Teen

A day in the life of my Victorian era teenager, Heidi Prescott…

Good morning!

Her sister Reva is excited to tell her about this new author she discovered, called Kate Chopin. Books are nice. You know what else is nice? Some privacy while brushing one’s teeth! LOL.

Breakfast with the family, made by the family servant, Amersham.

The morning is spent doing some self study and writing in her journal.

She no longer has a tutor and she doesn’t go to school since girls don’t really need an education beyond the basics, but she still likes to read and learn things on her own.

Heidi was looking forward to getting out of the house and going to the park in the afternoon, but as soon as they got there, it started to rain, and they had to turn around and go home.

Sipping on some hot tea with the family in the parlor to warm themselves up after escaping the rain.

Her parents are always inviting different eligible bachelors to dinner in hopes of marrying off her older sister, Reva. (As a young adult with no prospects, Reva is dangerously close to becoming an old maid.) It’s a bit boring and awkward having all of those old guys around, but at least there’s cake.

In the evening, Heidi warms herself by the fire that Amersham has started for her in her room. Good ol’ Amersham. You rarely see him, but he’s always there.

After a bath, she complains to her sister about their parents.

Then she reads a little before bed. A romance novel.

…My poor girl. I realized after playing her for a day how boring her life is, haha. This is a new save, so I don’t have very many venues or families created yet for her to interact with. Then the rain ruined the one fun thing I had planned for her! Your life will get more interesting, Heidi, I promise!

    What great screenshots, you got some beautiful angles through the canopied bed. I love how immersive your Victorian theme is! It's one of my favorite eras and I can never turn down a good piece of CC when I find it. You used some great Maxis Match pieces, they all blend so well. :)

    I love this. Cool costumes. How are you getting on with the low technology? I had a pirate save for a while and it was so difficult to keep everyone's fun levels up.

    Wow! First this is awesome, I've wanted to do a true Victorian era myself, where did you find the clothes, the hats? I absolutely love this!!!

    There is also this site here for anyone who is interested. It's a collaboration and collection of historic CC covering several eras, and includes various creators. I think the site was made by the same people who do Historical Sims Life plus a couple others and it's awesome. They have both Alpha and Maxis Match creators so everyone should be able to find something they like, no matter what your CC preferences are. :)

    @Mariefoxprice83 Technology is my favorite part of it and figuring out how to work around it. I especially love it when I find good alternative electronics and plumbing.

    As far as fun levels, I have one trick that works really well for me. People used to sit around the parlor and talk back in the day, but in the sims (and maybe modern real life??), they won't stay put unless there's a television. I use the bracket cheat to make the TV really small and place it in some obscured location that won't interfere with my screenshots and have them chat and watch television at the same time. Usually, I put the TV on the floor or up high on the wall. I found that I can also put it on the mantle behind some clutter, and they can still watch it. I also found this great TV that looks like a mirror when it's not in use, and I put that, full size, above the mantle in some of my houses.

    I also found an awesome 70s typewriter that functions as a computer and then an awesome victorian typewriter that's deco, but I found if I use the move objects cheat and place the victorian typewriter over the 70s typewriter, the sims can still use the computer part but it looks victorian.

    Books are great for fun, too, but I don't picture pirates reading very much, LOL.
