But yeah Rabbit holes really annoyed me in TS3, not only was it boring staring at a building but I found if building my own world (I used CAW a lot), the buildings would never fit with what I wanted in my world. Hopefully we will get an EP where we can build our own stuff it seems more likely with the districts they've created with TS4. IT's almost like going back to TS1!!
It's interesting you should mention the regression towards Sims style of playing. That complaint is common amongst players who realize, exactly, how much has been removed from the game starting with pools to story progression. I understand the create-a-style option created a significant amount of lag, especially when cc, expansion packs and stuff packs come into play. However, that was one the greatest ideas for this franchise since it's debut. In light of all that has been removed, I'm sad to say this is one Sims release I won't be picking up until much later depending on what is added to the game.
The lack of the open world aspect really bugs me. For me, that feature along side story progression and others made the game more realistic and enjoyable. The removal of automobiles really drove the disappointment home, for me. The implementation of cars was the best thing since Sims 2 and now, we won't have that either. I know some didn't like the toddler life stage, but that was just another element that made the game more realistic and now, that is gone, too. :\ I'll just wait and see what updates and expansion packs will be offered before I drop 40.00 on this release. Until then, I'll be rocking with my PS4 and reading the forums for updates. :)
