An easier switching between households

So I was just thinking... And It's really uncomfortable to go into map view each time we want to switch to a different household. I think it would be so much better if we could switch between households in play mode. Like you're in a park/cafe/etc and you see a sim that you would like to play now and you could click on that sim and choose "switch to this household". Of course it should be limited to housed sims only to avoid confusion and glitches. What do you guys think?

But that would leave your current Sim out in the world. So, when you switch back to them they are going to be away from home (stuck at the current lot or walking down a street somewhere and the rest of their household standing in the road) But it's a good idea.

That's often exactly what I want to do: for my current Sim to still be in the world, not back home, and to just keep the scene going. I've had times when two Sims from different households who are on a lot together and I want to play the other Sim. Currently I have to go to Manage Worlds to switch them - and yes, it leaves then both on the lot, which is my goal: I'm just switching point of view in the same story. I'd like to do that with fewer steps, through a UI option.

Added note: I could live with that applying only to housed Sims, the way the options are now. It would still be an improvement to my immersion compared to going to the map view.

well... This already happens a lot when you rotate between households. It's just how it is. When you stop playing a family in sims 4 and start playing another one, you may see your first family casually walking around the town by themselves without your control.
What I'm suggesting is not a replacement of the "switching method" that we already have in the game, but an addition to it. Now if you see one of your sim families walking in the town you'd be able to switch to them without having to go into the map view. And yes. This would leave your first family hanging where you left them. But it's actually nothing new. Just a convenience that could make rotational play a little bit easier.
  • Over 2 years late but I definitely agree! I get so annoyed when 2 of my sims from different households are hanging out. I can't switch between them without looking at the load screen for 5 minutes. I get frustrated.
  • I like this idea! As of now, you can use the CAS cheat to switch households without exiting to the map. It's a bit annoying, but it works in a pinch. :)

ETA: Did not even notice how old this thread was. My bad. >_>
