Sims can make copies of their written books by clicking the book itself and selecting the option (I believe it works if they're on a surface/the floor). Do this prior to publishing. You can't publish copies, but it can help if you decide to do a series of books under the same title. You can also read both copies and originals at the mic.
As for the rest, I like your ideas.
