Big Brother 2020 Challenge

Welcome to the Big Brother challenge! Originally by gizmoman49 on MTS.

Rules


1) There will be 8 Sims in the house to start with. Once the first four have been evicted, there will be one or two wildcard Sims added.

2) Evictions will be every Sunday.

3) Sims will not be controlled. I'm Big Brother here and can modify the house and evict Sims, but will not intervene directly.

4) They're cut off from the rest of the world. No TVs, computers, radios, or books allowed. There will be a mailbox on the premise solely for paying bills - assuming they'll be able to afford them!

5) At the start of the challenge, household funds will be set to 0. Raising money will be on the housemates.

6) While within the confines of the game, I can't take away their phones, they won't technically have them and hopefully... won't spend too much time on them. They have all been provided with journals; the spellcasters have had their glimmerstones taken.

7) Each week will have a challenge. Either the loser of the challenge will be the evictee, or the winner/s of the challenge will be immune from voting.

    @ohzuna thank you so much for your sweet comments! <3 Commenting here is absolutely fine, and I'm so flattered you got inspiration from Caleb and Johnny!

    Yeah, the relationship between Johnny and Malcolm is really interesting - I'm considering trying my runaway teen challenge again with Johnny, but it might also be interesting for him to try and save Malcolm by bringing him along? See if that actually manages to change their dynamic, especially away from Nancy's influence.

    I've been unwell the last week or so, so I haven't had a chance to play much, but I hope you continue enjoying it! And welcome to the forums!

    Thanks for the welcome! I mostly stick to reading on the Sims 3 forum; me and my kids are mostly the TS3 variety of simmers, and it's been very hard to suss out a good story for Sims 4. My first actual interest in anything was very recent and it involved some very interesting autonomous Caleb and Mortimer, of all people. Then I found out Johnny and Malcolm were supposed to be related and it got me thinking about TS3 Malcolm vs. TS4. He was always a little neglected, even in TS3, and I figure Johnny would have been attentive and loving and just the most FUN big brother ever. Then their parents took away the only person who gave Malcolm any real attention or affection, so Malcolm is understandably bitter toward them (all 3 of them, really, because at the time it probably felt like Johnny had abandoned him). He was messed up by Johnny's departure, I'm 100% certain of it. I think rebuilding their relationship could be very healing on both their parts.

    I take a different approach with Geoffrey, in that I had a mother who did unspeakable abuse to me and my brother, but she was mentally ill. My dad, who stood idly by and let horrible things happen to us, was a rational, mentally healthy person, who should have known better. So I figure, hey, an evil person like Nancy obviously has a skewed perspective on right and wrong, so we expect that from her. Geoffrey is supposed to be good and family oriented, so he is, if anything, as culpable (and maybe moreso) than Nancy, because he KNOWS it's wrong and goes along with it anyways. I'm not sure if he really chose her over Johnny's health and safety or if he felt he had to stay with her for his job, but the result is the same.

    I love the idea of Johnny "rescuing" Malcolm, because I think he would, especially when he got to a stable place himself. In the runaway situation I put them in, they couldn't leave their home for a while, and Malcolm literally would wait outside the bathroom until Johnny flushed so he could barge in to chat. Johnny literally couldn't eat or play guitar or dance or ANYTHING without Malcolm 3 pixels away, socially un-distancing himself. I figure Johnny wanted to grab his face and say "oh my GOD do you ever stop talking??".XD But they've never had more than a couple of negative interactions before they get to be friends enough that Malcolm seems to forget he's even evil and dastardly and wants to make enemies. He's angry and lonely but deep down he's a good boy.

    Anyways, thank you for giving me another reason to play Sims 4.:D I'm inspired to set up my own version of a Big Brother challenge to entertain my kids while we're all stuck at home. Take care of yourself, and I'll be around when you're feeling well enough to update the challenge.:)

    @ohzuna Caleb and Mortimer, wow XD And honestly, I can see that, even with his Evil trait (assuming he had that one as a child and not Snob). Could have even been Johnny's departure that gave him the Evil trait... hmm. And yeah, Geoffrey's involvement is definitely problematic, especially considering his literal Good and Family-Oriented traits. That'd be interesting to explore.

    Poor Malcolm. Have you found the What Happened In Your Game Today thread? I'm working out an aged-down save that I could re-try the challenge in, see how things go there! Going to make it a big group project if you want to join in!

    I'd love to see your take on it the challenge :D If you post it, let me know!

    Yeah, plus Sims 3 child Malcolm was just a Good, Bookworm, Ambitious little button. SOMETHING happened to make him like he is in Sims 4 and my vote is the stuff with Johnny and his parents.

    The Caleb and Mortimer thing was a surprise, but strangely compelling. But you just KNOW Mortimer wants to be a vampire and he has to start somewhere? XD

    I'm just now learning where everything is on the Sims 4 side of the forum, but I've found the WHIYGT thread and I'll be diving right in for sure. Sims + fanfiction, my favorite new OTP.

    I have Theories on that and that is that Johnny is meant to be TS3 Malcolm! They share the Ambitious trait, and I can totally see the outgoing comedian being a sweet li'l bookworm when he was younger. But alas, a Good kid isn't exactly the kind Nancy wants to see as her heir, so he gets booted and TS4!Malcolm comes along to replace him.

    (In my main save, that's part of the backstory, actually. Johnny's original name was Malcolm, and who we know as Malcolm was originally Sebastian. When Johnny was disowned, he changed his name, and Sebastian's name was changed to Malcolm, with Nancy pretending that he was their only child, their heir, Malcolm Landgraab, all along.)

    Anyway. Conspiracy theories are fun.

    Mortimer definitely seems like the kind to find the nearest friendly vampire and go, "Hey, you. Bite me." XD I wonder if it makes it better or worse than the Goth I see Caleb paired with the most is Cass...?

    So, Morgyn's hair. Is it cc? I didn't see it in game (but then, when I'm searching hairs in CAS they all tend to blur together and I find it hard to find things, so maybe I missed it). Or, if it's there, what pack did it come with?

    You really made me think about this Mortimer and Caleb thing. (In that save, I had intended Mortimer for MY sim, but I had to move quick because Caleb was already up on it). Once my sim and Mortimer were married, I let Mortimer carry on as he wanted, and finally I divorced him and watched Caleb pull an autonomous wedding proposal (which was actually incredibly romantic).

    I hadn't really played them since then, but I decided to play as Caleb, cure his vampirism, have him ghost Mortimer, and go to the magic realm to learn magic (and meet Morgyn). I have a theory as to why he's obsessed with magic, but anyways. Morgyn has been quite aloof with all of my sims but took a shine to Caleb with little to no effort on my part. I stepped down Caleb's relationship with Mortimer so they were no longer engaged (they still have a high romance bar but that doesn't come into play until later). Morgyn autonomously asked to go steady and then Caleb autonomously asked Morgyn to marry him, so it's all taking care of itself. Not sure Morgyn is ready to leave the Sage role and Caleb spends a lot of time laying in bed with Johnny emo'ing about how he's going to get married and STILL be lonely and Johnny plays Love Guru (he's very wise, especially lying in bed in the dark).

    BUT, and here's the big but: Morgyn's hair is all wrong because now I only see them as you've pictured them. I need that undercut!

    As for Big Brother. I saw that coming, and it makes me think about how reality show contestants always say "I'm not here to make friends" and I feel like that was Malcolm's thing.XD I never change his traits and he's mostly well behaved, but maybe he doesn't get enough attention in a big group. And I usually have a hard time liking Cassandra but I think she's kind of growing on me. Maybe I'll play her sometime instead of shipping her off to Strangerville. :D

    Isn't it glorious? @.@ It's an edit of Morgyn's canon hair, but it's BGC. And yeah, it just... works. Really well <3 Man, your story sounds fun - if you want to post it on the WHIYGT thread, I'd be all over it!

    And yeah, definitely XD Unfortunately, being antagonistic with everyone is a good way to get people to vote you out! Seriously, I was legit surprised he had that many votes. And I'm very fond of Cassandra, mostly because I did play with the Goths a lot way back in the TS1 days. When I got Makin' Magic she became a preteen witch, good times.

    Thank you! Got the hair and it is STUNNING. Morgyn looks STUNNING. So stunning, in fact, that the day I moved Morgyn in with Caleb, Caleb pulled an autonomous "elope immediately", completely ruining my wedding plans AND my story plans. But it was easily the most romantic thing I've ever seen in Sims 4 so how could I cancel it? There are some sims I look at their traits and I'm like, how are you like this? Caleb is the softest, bunny-est romantic I've ever seen, and he isn't even Romantic. Incredible.

    Cassandra, idk. She always got so mad when I wanted to hook Mortimer and Don Lothario up back in TS2. Mortimer would do just about anything to keep his daughter away from the man he suspected in Bella's disappearance, you know? Like that Meatloaf song, except that he WOULD do that. So Cassandra spent a lot of my TS2 game really angry at me. :(

    I'm gonna start posting on the WHIYGT thread. That's what I tell myself that every day! New fandoms are hard; thanks for the encouragement. :D

    @ohzuna oh goodness that is adorable <3 And heh, I actually did give my Caleb the Romantic trait (replaced Ambitious), but he really does seem to be automatically inclined to be a sweet romantic baby!

    I mean, fair enough for Cass to be mad, her fiance was hooking up with her dad. That's pretty weird XD Poor Goths, it was a pretty bad situation!
