Chapter 1.3

It just so happens, on one of my excursions to the library, I ran into Kayla. She looked like she wasn't having the best day. I struggled with myself on whether or not to speak with her. I didn't want Jade to think anything of it, but at the same time, Kayla looked pretty down.

Kayla was shocked to see me, when I suddenly sat down and asked her for a game. She was already part way through a game with herself, but I got the sense that was only because she didn't have a partner to play with.
Both of us quickly became enraptured by the game and laughed happily at one another's moves. It didn't feel like either one of us was very good at the game, but we enjoyed ourselves regardless. Kayla had such an amazing presence, I just felt so enthralled by her.

Afterwards, we went outside to talk. She told me that she knew she had overreacted to finding out that I was with the Llamas. She said she thought I was a pretty cool guy and she would like to try to start fresh and forget everything. I nodded in understanding and told her there was nothing to worry about.
"Still," She said. "I feel kind of bad. I guess I was under a lot of pressure at work."
I nodded. "I understand that."
Eventually, we went our separate ways and I felt that things were definitely taking a turn for the better.

That night, as I was right about to go to sleep, I received a call.

It was pretty late, but I answered as soon as I recognized the number. "Kayla?"
"Hey, Flint. I hope I didn't wake you."
Looking down at my bed I laughed. "Well, not exactly."
"Can I come over?" She asked hesitantly.
I have to admit. The whole thing sounded a bit bizarre. I wasn't exactly sure what she was wanting. I mean, up until just today she hadn't really wanted anything to do with me. So, of course I told her yes.
