Well, the Reception Was Fun, a Cantrell: The Early Years, Part Five Update
“What just happened?” Erik said, taking his new wife’s hands.
“I think we got married,” Kayleigh said.
“Are you quite certain? Because it felt like a whole lot of play-acting to me. You know like kids playing Make-Believe.”
“I know. I wish we could have had our dream wedding in church, too. Let’s just go listen to the toasts, shall we?”
Walking out the doors of the venue, the newlyweds found themselves in a small neatly mowed yard, lined with equally trimmed hedges. The guests had managed to gather around a table. Joey, was busy mutilating a cork from the Fizzy Juice bottle. “Oh, for pity’s sake, let me help you,” Drake was heard to say. Taking the bottle from the Best Man, the new father-in-law had the cap flying into the air with a distinct thwacking sound. Handing it back. Joey managed to fill several glasses. Raising his glass, he said, “To the new Mister and Missus Cantrell! May you have many happy years of wedded bliss.”
Brianna, as Maid of Honor was the next to offer a toast to the newlyweds. “I have known Erik my entire life. I met Kayleigh when we all shared Wyvern Hall dorm over at Britechester-U. In fact, Kayleigh and I shared a room together. A no-boys zone, if you will. We became fast friends. And dare I say, she became a sister to me. I never had a sister. Welcome to the family, Kayleigh. These two share such a rare love for each other. They really are soulmates. I wish them a very long and happy life together. With many children ‘round about their table. Many Years!”
“And now, it’s time for the First Dance. Inside everyone and let’s watch as Erik takes his new wife out for a spin.”
After dancing, the guests were enticed to head upstairs for the Wedding feast.
After everyone had dined, Erik and Kayleigh were called to cut the cake. As they stationed themselves behind the cake table, Erik frowned. “Honey, what’s wrong?”
“Somebody struck again, look,” he said, staring at the empty first tier. “That’s a pretty low thing to do.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“Our cake topper is gone. My guess is we have a thief in our midst, or an interloper that pillaged our cake while we were in the ceremony. This has got to stop.”
“Erik, settle down. The topper isn’t missing at all. I took it off of the cake, so we could cut it. Trust me, it’s in a safe place. I realize you’re sensitive about such things right now. But, really, it’s okay.”
“Shall we get to cutting the cake, then?”
“I think we should.”
“Hm, what’s the best approach, I wonder?” Kayleigh said.
“I think you stick the knife in and drag it downwards?”
“You mean, like this?” Kayleigh said, casting Erik a glance. He smiled, leaned over and placed his hand over hers.
“Here, let me lend you a hand.”
“Easy does it, there you go,” Erik said, as they succeeded in slicing the first piece.”
“Hey, we work pretty good together.”
“And now, I think we are to feed each other, is that right?”
Kayleigh nearly laughed, "Don't you know?"
"I haven't been to too many weddings. Certainly not receptions."
After the cake was served, the guest bombarded the couple with bubbles.
At last it was time for the bride and groom to head off to parts unknown for their honeymoon.
All for now, thanks for reading!

Thank you. In fact, I've been writing up that update, just this morning. Once I'm satisfied, I will post it. For the record, I clicked on Like and so far, it's not registering. I very much appreciate your comments, too.
