Chapter 9 Rebuilding What Remains

In the days following the devastating fire, the remnants of Penlope’s life seemed to hang in the air, ash and soot staining every corner of her once-cozy home. Her boyfriend, now bound to the mortal plane as a ghost, had taken it upon himself to restore some semblance of order. Day and night, he tirelessly cleaned the charred walls, swept away debris, and replaced what he could.
