Rose colored glasses, I'm afraid. If you look in forums for the Sims 3 and no doubt the Sims 2, you would find the same complaints over and over again. I know because I complained long and loudly about the horrible state of Sims 3 toddlers and children myself. These ages were woefully under-developed and couldn't do ANYTHING half the time. Toddlers especially couldn't even click on an adult Sim and socialize with them, if memory serves. Almost all meaningful socialization had to be initiated by the adult. Children in the Sims 3 couldn't play the piano, even, or ride the horses even though I know many children growing up who took horse riding lessons. In some respects, Sims 4 is a child and toddler paradise compared to the Sims 3, but still very lacking on others. We are DEFINITELY missing things from the past like hopscotch, jump rope, mary mack and cops and robbers, the kite, tag, the costume trunk ... The kids don't act like kids when they're together, that's for sure, and Growing Together should have been the place to start fixing this.
