I don't play the console version but I did play ts2 on ps2 and direct control was always more fun to play with that type of controller. I definitely think it should be added as an option, similar to how 2 did it (so you could use either one). It definitely feels to me like you can obviously tell the console market is an afterthought, adapting control schemes is one of the simplest improvements when porting games that makes it feel not clunky
