- I usually build the exterior walls first and place doors, windows etc. because I'm more picky about how the house looks outside than the room layout inside. Sometimes I do slight modifications to the exterior walls if the room layout doesn't work.

Thank you for this! Will definitely give it a go :) - Yes, Not all the time but just to jump start my imagination.
- Only when I'm in a hurry :D

I never have, but it could be interesting to try. I typically build houses that will be easy for me/my sim to have easy access to everything without the cutaway walls, if that makes sense. I like seeing the artwork and stuff on walls.
So you like to zoom in and see the entire background/walls.. ect? lol I was actually taking screenshots of a house I built and I had this kitchen area that I really liked but I couldn't get a good picture when zooming in with the walls up, the room was too small. It kinda made me mad although I don't take a lot of pictures of my sims and tend to be zooming out/in, fast forwarding/pausing.. I'm all over the place.
Yep, I hardly ever use the cutaway wall or walls down views because too much of the house is missing. I tend to favor more "open" living areas for my Sims and in RL. ;) I don't take a lot of screenshots either, though."abbyshire;12998577" wrote:

Ohh! Are you a designer??- N0NoTToN0NNew SpectatorI've never tried using floor plans but I will look up pictures of different architectural styles to get ideas sometimes. I usually get more inspiration from playing different sims. As their needs change I design a new lot to suit their needs and personalities etc.
- I totally use pictures of homes on the net for inspiration and I sometimes attempt to follow them but I always find myself deviating from the original in some way. My latest build (posting it hopefully sometime this week) is a great example of it. Some things I want to do I just can't do in game yet so I have to change some things up.
I've been really inspired by a lot of great builders here on the forums too! It's amazing to see how we can all use the same limited tool set to create such diverse works!
I say grab inspiration from anywhere you can and definitely attempt to build some houses from plans or pictures. You may just surprise yourself! - I'm currently working on a boarding school build for a boarding school challenge. I do seriously massive builds It usually takes forever but I eventually get it done. IBuilding can take me up to 4 to 5 days.
