Educated teen run away challenge Goal is to complete High school with a graduation with honours then enrol into university and complete the Academic aspiration. Have a house by the time you start y...
I was intended to do more in depth updates, but I'm almost on week five now and it'd be a bit much to dump it all day by day. Plus, reading over my notes it's looking a little boring LOL. So, highlights! Note that I play a fairly modded game, and that I start all new games from a base game I made where I deleted most premades. Hopefully that's ok! :)
Everyone, meet Dawn Bailey-Parson, who recently stormed out of her hippy parents' house after an argument in order to prove to them, herself, and the world in general that she could Make It On Her Ownâ„¢. I'd been feeling like making someone kinda alt and rebellious looking for awhile now, so seeing this challenge was great timing for me!
Her parents and older (teen) brother are in-game, but she won't be visiting them as they live in Evergreen Harbor. Plus they're broke anyway so they can't help out financially.
She's an Overachiever, Shy, Gloomy, Ambitious, and has a custom aspiration because... I forgot about the Academic part of the challenge when I was making her, lol. The Shy trait was a challenge early on. It's custom and gives a +2 embarrassed moodlet around strangers. She also got the being judged fear while I was setting up her negative relationships with her parents, poor thing.
I tweaked the rules a bit here and there. I allowed her to have a part-time job as it was necessary for the aforementioned custom aspiration, but I cheated away any money made from it. I let her graduate early instead of waiting for age up, and sent her off to college once she had maxed one skill and had 5 in 3 others.
Week 1: For most of the first week, it was pouring rain and it made things kinda difficult. Her neighbors even ditched the meet and greet early because of it, and it broke her little mini fridge she had outside at that point since she couldn't afford walls yet.
She got by by spamming taking pictures, and painting at school. Selling her paintings got her to 1 star celebrity status, and taking all those pics gave her the phone addict quirk.
Around Thursday, she had enough money for a little room to prevent the fridge from being rained on. And late in the day, she ran into her big brother at the pier, and he helped her get over her fear. Must have been an A+ big brother talk.
SimNation is such a small world. Once, my sim met her boyfriend's parents because they were sitting across from them while they were out on a date at a restaurant.
Over the next few days, she got some apples from trees she planted (seed obtained from fishing) which I golden pulsed to perfect, got her grade up to a B, briefly chatted with her mom who stopped by, skipped prom to paint, finished a few tiers in the painting aspiration, and expanded the 4x4 to 6x6 so the shower could be indoors.
Week 2: She met a new friend name Christa, who's Socially Awkward, a Loner, and a Bookworm.
Ignore the girl staring at the camera, lol. Christa is the brunette in shorts.
Her room expanded some more, and she got a new fridge and stove (the country kitchen one is surprisingly cheap for only $700), and also got the tv/stereo/bookshelf combo from tiny living. Now that I'm thinking about it, I should have made her house a tiny lot. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20. On the bright side, she finished her first masterpiece painting as well.
Her brother and father visited mid-week and a civil conversation was had \o/. I'd like it they reconcile before she ages up, so I was happy.
This is the week where she got a part-time job as a barista, as I said above I cheated away all the money from it since no jobs were allowed in the initial rules. This finished the second tier of her custom aspiration. She doesn't have money to waste on a bar, so I sent her to the library in search of a mixology skill book. She ran into (madeover) Simeon Silversweater there, and made him cry with her melancholy thoughts :D. And (madeover) L. Faba! She only talked to Simeon though, she had reading to get done.
Week 3: Summer begins! MCCC informed me that her dad and brother aged up to Adult and Young Adult, respectively. Whatever happened to NPC birthday parties, anyway?
The calls where an NPC asks you for $1k investments started this week, so I had her hustle with paintings and write some poetry books so she could get the payout from it. This is also when I decided that in order to let her graduate early and go on to uni, she had to master 1 skill and get 3 others to 5.
On Wednesday I think, she got to 2 star celebrity from selling her paintings, and I promptly nabbed the CelebuSerum perk. The next day, she got the top of her barista career so I had her quit that, and finally got herself an A. I had her graduate then so she could apply now and enroll Saturday even though her skills weren't quite at the level I set for her yet.
Over the next few days, she rose her wellness and guitar skills to 5 and mastered painting. Writing was already at 5, so she officially qualified to apply to uni  During this, she got the Single and Lovin' it lifestyle. I actually have plans to hook her up with someone in particular down the line, but she hasn't even met him yet, so I'll take the skill boost for now. Looking at my files, I don't think I took any pics this week until she enrolled in uni, sorry!
On Saturday, her acceptance letter came. She got into a bunch of distinguished programs and got a lot of scholarships.
Ignore the amounts, I have a mod that raises them for another save file and I forgot to remove it. I deducted the extra money, and she still got a free ride. Though she also got the final investment call that day so she wasn't hurting for money in the slightest.
She moved into Wyvern Hall right away, and most of her roomies are Adults (as opposed to Young Adults) so that's kind of awkward. She'll be spending 99% of her time at home in her room, though, so I guess its fine. At least I won't have to worry about annoying serenading, and only one of them is erratic? I bought her a fancy new laptop, then swapped out her bed for a better one, deducting the funds of course.
She met with her family in the Caboose in Evergreen Harbor since she's allowed to leave now and things went fine with her dad, not as much with her mom. They still aren't friends yet, but at least dad's relationship is out of the red and mom's is just a liiitle red sliver.
When it was prom time, she got the call even though she graduated. I went mostly to see if it would work, and it did. She spent most of it working on her presentation.
That's 3 weeks, so I think I'll pause here. This has been in drafts for a few days and I'd like to post it already. I hope it was at least a little entertaining!
