I think the movie and spa expansion packs would be so much better with a ticket dispenser like the one they had in Open for Business. I've tried running a theater as a retail business but it isn't really functional. I am just not a huge fan of the way they set up retail in this game. Everyone just stands around in a huge mob. The Open for Business model felt more natural. It was my favorite expansion for all of the previous incarnations. I was super excited for Get to Work and i really love the aspect where you attend work with your sims. I just felt let down by the retail aspect. Has anyone found a way to work around the lack of a ticket dispenser or discovered a mod for one?

I just don't think it's been covered yet. Doesn't mean it won't ever come. Here are some possible business types Manufacturing/Production - Making something and selling it for more than it cost to make it. You can do this with painting/writing/woodwork etc in the BG. Retail - The selling (or reselling) of items for a profit - They covered this in GTW. It could have been better, but it does what it says on the tin. Dining Establishments (Counter Service) - Selling food/drink at a counter for consumption on the premises - We got drinking establishments in BG, and 2 eating types in GT, Cafés and Bar Food. We don't get to own these atm, but that doesn't mean it isn't possible in the future. (see PAYG Venue, below) Dining Establishments (Table Service) - Serving food to a table for consumption on the premises - This is coming, with much customisation, in Dine Out. Entertainment Service - This is the type of lot to need entry fees or ticket machines (cinemas, darts club, galleries, pools, gyms etc) - Not covered yet. PAYG Venue - This would be things like arcades/laundrettes/bars that charge you per item/service used/purchased, rather than for being on the lot - Ownership not covered yet. PAYG/Ticket Hybrid - Nightclubs/themeparks/spas/gyms with extras/cinemas with concessions, etc where you pay an entry fee and some individual costs for additional services or goods. - Not covered yet.

Nobody made a mod for this... yet.

Movie Hangout Stuff was about watching movies at home. They deliberately stayed away from advertising it as a movie theater centered pack, because they know that's a whole different experience. Graham said that a while ago on twitter, but I'm a bit too lazy right now to scroll through his whole feed, sorry.I could imagine them making a Game Pack with an active actor or director career and a new movie theater venue though.

@SimGuruGraham said that the ticket machine may return if there's enough call for it. I've asked on twitter a couple of times. I hope it makes a comeback too.I had a wonderful fun park in sims 2 that was a lot of fun to run. LOVE that ticket machine!

I find it difficult to run a retail shop of homemade goods. Takes a lot of investment to make them and a lot more to try and keep the shop running. Every time i run a shop my sims get very run down, very quickly. The employee hiring options are very few and they are usually sims that already have demanding jobs like dr. It limits the employees and leaves the owner run ragged trying to keep up with the mob.

As for the advertising for Movie Hangout, they did imply a public theater when they put up the teaser image on their FB page showing a group in a line, with a rope and theater posters behind them, being greeted by an employee. I'd share a link but i have too few posts.

Regardless, the ticket machine should be relatively easy to make, one would think, and would help solve many of the limitations of the business ownership aspects of the game.

I for one hope they create it sooner, rather than later, because i am hesitant to buy more stuff and game packs at this point.

Ff it does make a comeback I hope we can use it on residential lots. I had a lot of fun with the ticket machine, a small pub and living quarters upstairs.

Ticket machine is very necessary.I really want it back.Imagine a commercial kingdom that could be achieved with a small ticket machine.It makes the game more interesting.^^.Back Back Ticket Machine!!

it feels like nobody from the sims 2 and the sims 3 are still there with most new packs with the sims 4.

i agree what a mess all around
