I like Zach and Mila. <3 They're a sweet couple and I enjoy reading about the early days of their careers and life as they adjust to a new home. As for what to do to create excitement, I don't know. All of the ideas you suggested seem fine. But it's also nice to just read a happy, somewhat predictable, romance/family story. :)
