Glasses need purpose!

Right now, as far as I know, glasses serve no purpose in TS4.
I think it would be really cool if Sim randomly were assigned a hidden trait that determined if they need glasses. Much like how Sims react negatively if they have a hot weather outfit in the snow, Sims should be more clumsy and/or have difficulty learning skills if they need glasses and don't have them. This trait could also be genetic. I think this would really add a layer of realism to the game. I myself wear glasses, and they affect me enormously.
The only problem with this is that many 3d lash cc are categorized under glasses....maybe that could be a nice cheat? Ha!
Would you guys like this? Anything you would add or leave out?

  • You guys all bring up valid concerns. My post was largely influenced by the fact that I have really bad eyesight, and without my glasses I can do basically nothing.
Contacts are a good idea, if you don't want Sims to wear chunky glasses all the time.

Or it gives us annoying notifications like these:
”You’re not wearing your glasses today. You can’t see a thing”. ... minus minus FUN.
So my sim tries to get their fun boosted by playing computer games. Notification:
”You can’t play computer games. You’re not wearing your glasses. You can’t see a thing”.
    ... minus minus FUN.
And then my sim dies from depression.

I was thinking it could be more subtle, maybe the with occasional Tense moodlet.

especially cause even blind people can do some things better than people with perfect vision so itd just become minefield trying to say someone cant be awesome at skill simply because they can't see

Of course, there could be certain degrees to the need-glassesness. My mother, for example, does everything just fine without her glasses. Although I don't think the devs would put something as complex as this into the game.
I prefer to relinquish a bit of control from my Sims when it comes to these things, but I suppose a lot of people micromanage.
It could be a trait that you can choose, but most people only have three trait slots. I use a mod that lets me assign as many as I want. Wasting a whole slot on a "needs glasses" trait...idk if many people would like that.
Anyway, I appreciate the criticisms & suggestions.
  • I prefer it to be something that player can choose for their sims, there should be a separate menu to assign hidden trait, like left handed, nearsighted etc.
  • I think maybe instead of making it a trait you could make it something you can assign to have your sim wear all the time under CAS. This way if you don't want your sim to have sight issues you aren't stuck with the trait but if you want your sim to naturally wear glasses all the time there could be a box to click in CAS that would keep them on all the time. If that makes sense
  • Its a good idea but I want to pick who gets to wear glasses and who doesn't.
