How to improve socializing? Uneven relationships, rewards, ease of interaction??
Hey all, I don't know about you, but I wish my sim relationships were a little more interesting and were able to accommodate the stories I want to tell. I think this could be accomplished with a few improvements to our current relationship system.
First, right now relationship improvement and reduction happens to both sims after every interaction. But what if we could have uneven relationships?! Secret crushes, friends your sim reeeeeeally wants to impress, sims your sim just flat out cant stand but who love your sim! Yes. I know. Gameplay heaven. So how would it work?
Well, a few ways:
Sims could use their own likes and dislikes to "approve" and "disapprove" of other sims behavior, gaining or losing relationship points towards that sim, without the other sim's relationship points changing, when they observe a sim engaging in the liked or disliked behavior.
Also:
Sims who read, listen, view, or otherwise ingest an item made by another sim will gain or lose relationship points toward that sim based on quality of the item.
And:
Sims can add and unknown sim to their relationship panel without interacting with them by clicking on them and choosing, "notice sim." They can then build or decrease their relationship with that sim by approving or disapproving and liking or disliking what that sim does or makes, even if that other sim doesn't even know they exist! Could work great for authors to build a super fan group of sims that love and read their books. Sims can also build relationship toward another sim by "viewing their social media" account and maybe have the social media account feature more interesting and worthwhile to maintain.
Second, right now relationships don't provide much in the way of benefits. Why not change that so relationships with other sims are more worthwhile?
We could have:
Sims who like you, give you stuff like rare crystals, cards with money, or talk you up and increase your work or school performance, even tell their other friends about you and make them like you too.
Sims who dont like you might leave fire poo or trash in your lawn, might start rumors and get others to dislike you or decrease your work/school performance.
Sims who know another sim can introduce sims who dont know each other and this will provide an instant boost to the relationship between the introduced sims.
Third, the ability to limit the sims who your sim is forced to interact with by the game. How?
Perhaps:
Option to restrict lots to spawning "locals only"
Ability to click on a sim and force them to leave a lot even if they are unknown.
Ability to click on a sim and force them to change outfit even if they are unknown.
Ability to manage relationship panel by "forgetting a sim"
Let me know what you think of all this and what your ideas are!
