As someone rightly put on twitter:https://twitter.com/linzlu92/status/1058105080736632832Now, I know that some people will say it's not worth it, that they'd rather see the team work on x, y, or z feature or that the pregnancy and baby stages are only three days long, but remember a) there are a variety of different ways to play The Sims b) there's always the option to age the babies up straight away c) the Gurus have stated many of times that there's at least three more years left in The Sims 4 and d) if not for The Sims 4, perhaps, the team could take on ideas for future iterations. So let's discuss, what do you all want to see for pregnancy and babies? What do you wish was different? Anything you'd like to see make a return or any details you're missing?

My wife is currently pregnant, and honestly I think pregnancy is appropriately realistic in-game. They could add a few things like baby showers and special interactions like “brainstorm names,” “talk about hopes for baby,” or something like that. Babies are what really need work. I’d like to see something like sims freeplay where babies start out in the crib and then sit up and crawl. At the bare minimum I’d like to be able to change baby’s clothes.

at the very least, I'd like the babies to have more than like three skintone shades and look more like what a baby version of that sim would look like, if that makes sense. I'd definitely love to see them become actual sims as that would make the baby stage more worthwhile imo. I don't exactly miss being able to drop and lose babies in the snow in TS3 but since snow isn't deep in-game anyways we shouldn't have that problem lol. more customization options regarding clothes (maybe a few hairstyles but nothing that a real baby wouldn't have) and objects the babies can interact with to some degree, i.e. playpens or something. I suppose to prevent babies being dropped wherever you could just make them incapable of setting a baby down unless it's in their crib, playpen, wherever else a baby might be left in. as reallysoawkward23 said, baby shower events and having babies being able to at least sit up would be really nice to have.

The babies almost look like they're glowing at the moment...or at least the baby that my Sims had while I was making the video above did. I know what you mean about dropping in the snow...I suggested to be able to pass them to another parent/relative if they wanted to hand them off. You're hitting the nail on the head with all these suggestions here :smile:

I would like the babies to really improve. The pregnancy could be improved, but it is good the way it is currently for me. As for babies, there is a hard balance. They have always been too simple, doing nothing but crying. Yes, I'm aware babies spend most of their time crying or sleeping, but there is also a lot else to do with them.

You're probably not alone in thinking that pregnancy is good the way it is, but it could be so much more, things we've never before seen done. Babies have a lot left to be desired. Someone left a comment on my video suggesting to maybe leave babies the way they are and then implement an infant stage, which may be a lot easier for the team to start from scratch than to try to fix the objects that babies are now. Either way, I feel like they'd have to start from the beginning anyway. There's a lot that they could do, they could start learning, they could be influenced by how the pregnant Sims' pregnancy went, they could add back randomness, surprises, keep us all on our toes! :mrgreen:
