Honestly, the way they worked in TS2 was extremely fun for me. "Driving" the kids to school added so much more realism, ofcourse they all teleported behind the screen but seeing the car drive off and the kids getting in the car was fun.
Making and fixing your car was fun to, it could be a seperate skill so when they get better they get more choices, add a faster engine or more colour options. Teens can "woohoo" in the car or sneak out and use their parents car when they're not allowed. Or they can break the car and get a sad moodlet and they get scolded by their parents. Kids can pretend to drive in the car, I know lots of kids here do that and pretend they are race car drivers lmao!
