Making a Hobbit Hole?

With the new terrain tool, my first thought was to make a Hobbit hole but I am now wondering if it is possible since there is an opening at the top of a hill if you just try and place something down and try to raise the lot over it. Since it is still a new thing I don't know if I am doing something wrong or if it just isn't possible lol. Any ideas?

    Maybe you can use the roof from the groundfloor up to try and cover the space between the hill and the house?
