You may be right but I think if it’s done in a cartoony looney tunes kind of way they could get away with it. But I do think they need to quit worrying about offending everybody, I think that’s beginning to become a lot of businesses in the entertainment industries pit fall. Whether it’s games or movies.
Games aren’t reality, they shouldn’t be limited to this reality. And the sims had never been limited to that when it comes to supernaturals and other quirky characters they have put in the game. Especially in the sims 2. I could totally see this kind of expansion in the sims 2. The game is rated T, not E. If this was a An E rated game meant to only appeal to younger generations then I would get it, but it’s not, the sims has always been a game that has been known since the beginning for being ahead of it’s time and for it’s dark comical humor.
Maybe now they wouldn’t put in the dark humor that was in the sims 2 and sims 1 but I honestly think they could get away with it with a game pack or expansion pack, if it’s to much for someone then they don’t need to buy it. I think this iteration has tried to hard to appease everyone and I think when you do that, your setting yourself up to fail because you will never meet Everyone’s expectations and their will always be someone who feels left out or who gets offended if their trying too or looking hard enough. I truly believe that’s why this game gets so much criticism from players is because this game has tried so hard to appease everyone that’s it’s sort of set itself up for that. And it’s cool of them to try and do it, but when it starts effecting a game thats T rated and makes it less fun that’s when I think quit trying so hard to appease everyone because it’s missing out on it’s opportunity to be the best game it can be.
I think it’s better to just try and make a fun quirky sims game that can put in T rated themes without worrying about it offending the masses. Because that’s a no win situation.
And I would get it more if I was talking about making the sims game more like grand theft auto but I’m not. I think the things I mentioned could easily fit into this game and yes some players might not like it but then guess what, just don’t purchase the expansion pack or game pack, and I honestly think for many it would be a breath of fresh air, I think a lot of players would appreciate the risk and it would make the sims more popular then ever.
Plus there are mods you can add to the game that add more adult or suggestive themes in it, but that doesn’t mean you have to download them. And so if you don’t want certain content in you”re game don’t download it or let alone buy it.
Just like with this new horse expansion pack, no one is forcing people to put that content in their game or buy it. And I have heard complaints from players saying they are offended by the horse expansion pack because the developers didn’t do enough cultural references or something along those lines, probably because they were more interested in actually making the gameplay fun, which is what their goal should be in my opinion.
Not how are we going to add a western themed pack without offending people, I’d rather a fun game versus a boring one because they’re afraid to put things in their that will make the game fun. And honestly I don’t think the competition they’re going to have is going to worry about it, if you don’t like what’s in the game, then don’t play it or buy the add ons you don’t like or would be offended by. Just like you wouldn’t download mods that you don’t want in you”re game.
Especially if it’s rated T, it’s rated T for a reason because there might be some suggestive Themes in it or game play that you could possibly not like or be offended by. It’s just my opinion, but I feel like many people are getting tired of worrying about that constantly when wanting to be entertained, whether it’s a game or a movie, they just want to have fun and be entertained. And there will always be people with negative commentary because you can’t please everyone.
Im at least hoping the sims 5 plays a little harder on their T rating. A lot of their fan base are adult players. I think to ignore that is a mistake.
