Mirror hairstyles

I'm not familiar with the technical side of things, so I can't judge whether this is easy to program or not. If someone more knowledgeable could weigh in that would be fantastic.

I think a great addition to the game would be the option of mirroring the CAS hairstyles. I mean literately keep the same hair, but allow simmers to flip it. This would flip all side parts (left to right, right to left), side pony tails & braids, little stray hairs that are different on each side. Why you ask?

  • Variety among your sims and townies - Being able to flip the hairstyle effectively gives townies double the amount of hairstyles to choose from. So the sims you meet might have the same hair-do, but still slightly different. This adds to the realism and creative options for simmers.
  • Story telling purposes - Mirror twins anyone? 5 clones and one impostor? A small difference between otherwise identical sims adds more clues for story telling.
  • Consistency - For many people it is important to try different hairstyles with each outfit as they explore their identity. Keeping small details like their natural side part consistent can help show consistency even when making dramatic changes to a character. For example my hair falls in a natural left side part. Because of this, I often keep my left side part even when I try out different hairstyles.

If you really want to go all out you could apply this to all items in the game (clothing, accessories, wall patterns, decorations, interactive items etc).
I would expect this to be more complicated to program and possibly expanding the size of the game too much. However this would pretty much be the above benefits list on steroids!!

Imagine being able to go into CAS and build/buy, simply pressing a single hot-key while selecting the item you want to place and it would automatically mirror it? Wouldn't that be fantastic?!
    • I never thought of this before actually but yeah, it'd be cool to be able to mirror hairstyles, would be cool to have side partings, fringes etc. on the opposite side on occasion- although as you say IDK how much work it'd be in a technical sense! But yeah I think this would be a neat idea.
    • I don't know much about the technical side of things either, but I very much like this idea.
Such a simple idea that could add a lot to the game.
