Update:
I made a thread on General regarding the Knock on Doors bug (see thread here). Long story short, I got an answer from @SimGuruShannon, saying that a fix is in the works AND confirming that there is an in-game workaround (no mod needed).
I can't test it out tonight, but I will tomorrow and, if all goes well (cross fingers), I'll be back in the hunt by the weekend at the latest :).
