Morgan, shipwrecked in paradise

Morgan wakes up to a hopeful sight: his coconut tree is fully grown!

It's time to spend some of the money he earned yesterday and make his life a little easier. He buys a second kitchen counter, and a cheap fridge.

With nothing to cook food, he can only prepare salad - but there's nothing wrong with salad.

Finally, a home-made meal from his open-air kitchen! It seems like the most delicious food he ever tasted. He makes a family serving, because he now has a place to store the leftovers.

After breakfast he harvests the coconut tree. It yields ten normal quality coconuts. Morgan immediately plants one of them. Hopefully the next crop will be better!

He also spends money on a fishing trap, because he is now skilled enough in fishing to use one. He places in it the shallows and uses another coconut as bait.

As a morning exercise, he swims to the buoy where he spotted dolphins jumping out of the water the day before. At one point he notices fins in the water very close to him, but... this doesn't look like a dolphin! He will have to be careful while swimming.

Around noon he arrives in Ohan'ali town, expecting to follow his usual routine of looking for seashells and making friends on the beach. But he notices that the pavilion is being prepared for another festival, this time decorated with blue banners with pictures of dolphins and seagulls.

It seems that the festival is dedicated to the ocean and to creativity. There are seashells displayed on tables, a seafood vendor, and there are easels and a guitar for anyone who might want to be creative.

Morgan joins the small crowd gathered around the guitar player and spends some time listening to the music, and enjoying being part of this colourful event.

When the player is finished, he feels bold enough to take the guitar and try playing it himself.

What he is doing can't really be called music - he is just plucking the strings one after the other to find out what sound they make. But the crowd is very supportive, and they even give him some small tips.

Morgan learns that the seashells on display are free for the taking. It would be greedy to take them all, but he helps himself to two, worth 200 together.

Upon returning to his little island at sunset, he checks the coconut-baited trap. It's still empty. He tries fishing, again with coconuts as bait.

His first catch is a piece of driftwood, but just before going to sleep he catches a Celestial Drifter and learns that this is an invasive species threatening the island ecosystem. The island would be grateful if he caught more!

Morgan has been shipwrecked in Sulani for a week now, and his life has settled into a kind of routine.

Breakfast, then swimming and cleaning up the ocean around his little island.

Going to Ohan'ali Town to pick up seashells and to check for odd jobs online (the internet doesn't work on his little island).

The job offer by Mele sounds like something Morgan could try! he is a level 1 gardener, maybe he will be able to manage her bonsai.

He does the job (although not brilliantly), and at the end of the day he invests in a couple of torches, his first lighting. He is starved for fun now, so he builds a sand sculpture by torchlight.

He goes for another brisk swim before sleep. While in the ocean, he spots a figure walking on the volcano island.

It's Nalani! Morgan calls out to her to join him, but she doesn't hear him and just goes on walking.
In spite of being very sweet and friendly, Nalani definitely has an aura of mystery about her. Morgan decides he needs to get to know her better.

Another morning swim. Morgan has reached level 3 in fitness the day before, so he is able to dive at the buoy for the first time.

At the beach in Ohan'ali Town, he chats with Nalani before starting to look for shells. The conversation gets a little flirty, and she giggles happily at his compliments.

They build a sandcastle together and go on chatting.

But Morgan goes a little too far when he confesses his attraction to her. Suddenly serious, Nalani tells him she doesn't know him well enough.

To make matters worse for Morgan, another islander joins the conversation and says something funny. Nalani joins him in laughter, and Morgan now feels like they are laughing at him.

He excuses himself and goes to the other side of the bay to pick up seashells.

"Unlucky in love, lucky in beachcombing" - is that a thing? It seems to be true for Morgan, because he finds a pile of various seashells, some of them rare.

He still feels bad about going too far in his conversation with Nalani. The thought is making him cringe.

But since he spent very little the day before, selling the seashells gets his savings a little over 1000 simoleons. That means he will be able to buy a barbecue pit, which means he will be able to prepare much more than just salad!

(It totally doesn't make sense for the barbecue pit to cost 1000 simoleons. It's just a hole in the ground with hot stones and palm leaves! But the high price did make finally getting it more satisfying.)
