1915... The after math of Emmett's death hit the family pretty hard.

Anna became Prissy's primary caretaker.

Lewis wanted to quit school and start working the docks like his father but Carolina did not like that idea. She told him that his father worked to hard to put all them into school and he was to finish. That was his father's wish. So he went to school and worked in the evenings laboring on the docks. He also helped his mother with the garden as for now it was their primary source of income.

Frances and Max, though still sad from her father's death wanted to have a baby. It took a few tries but they finally became pregnant.

Frank found himself being away from the home often and looked to fishing, reading outdoors or taking long walks.

Ruth during the days while everyone was gone would take Prissy out for walks. Toward the end of the year she ran into a soldier named Henry Rhodes. They kept running into each other and he eventually asked her out. They secretly courted for a year as her mother was still depressed over the loss of her father and she wanted to wait a bit to introduce him.

1916... Baby and an Elopement.
Frances had a little baby girl and named her Dorothy McDermott

Ruth and Lewis visited Frances often and help tend to Baby Dorothy while there.

Ruth finally introduced Henry to the family toward the end of the year. Just before he was to ship out to War as he volunteered to transfer to a British unit he asked Ruth to marry him and they eloped.

1917... War
The ladies said their goodbyes. Carolina was sad and worried for her children. Anna had also joined up and was to ship out as a nurse.

Upon arrival everyone was issued their uniforms and assigned posts. Anna was stationed at the command post, Lewis was stationed as an air mechanic and Max was sent to the front lines, Frank got lucky and became the General's driver.

Anna celebrated her 18th birthday at camp. She also became very close to war dog Bomber and meet the doctor, Nathaniel Wellington.

Meanwhile at home. Ruth revealed the marriage to her mother and her pregnancy. Despite being disappointed in the way they eloped she was happy for her daughter and the happiness she found. She had a little girl and named her Mary Rhodes.

1918... The end of WW1, homecomings, and death.
Frances's pups aged up and so did Dorothy who became a Toddler.

Those who lived and those who perished. (I looked up the death ratio for American soldiers during WW1, it was 3/20 so when I rolled for their deaths anyone who rolled a 1 to 3 died and anyone who rolled 4+ lived. With mccc I did the cow plant death but it didn't give me an ern so I won't be doing that in the future and will assign a different type of death.)

Ruth was sad from her loss and often took to Mary. She became the only piece of Henry Rhodes left behind and loved her unconditionally.

Return Home...
When Max returned he got to meet his daughter for the first time and spent every minute with her he could. They also tried for another baby and became pregnant instantly.

The Damme Homecoming... The kids were happy to be home but had some quirks. Carolina was overjoyed and began to breath again. She finally started getting dressed during the day and was beginning to tend to the home more.

Lewis tried to comfort Ruth and spent his days worried for her. She began to lose a lot of weight and spent most of her time in the upstairs room with Mary.

After the war everyone tried to return to normal. Though Max became paranoid, Lewis was gloomy often, Frank became a loner and sought to being away from any crowds, Anna became squeamish after seeing all the aftermath that war had caused.
