Part 1... 1977, the year of PET (personalized computers that we now have today, though looked a bit different), Atari, first gaming console in homes, and the Re-Entry of Draft Dodgers back into the U.S. with pardons.
Now sims can play gaming consoles, though the Arcade is still a very popular place among the youngsters. I wish we could build an arcade in the game similar to what we had in Sims 2. https://i.ibb.co/h2qkswg/1977-Johnplays-Atari.png
Commodore PET, TRS 80, and Apple II made their way into homes. Now sims may enjoy certain limited abilities on the computers. https://i.ibb.co/7JbL3QJ/1977-PET.png
First up Michael Shelton. He had run off to Canada and was gone so long that he married and had his own family. He brought them to meet his family for the first time after 9 years. Mary was very happy to see him and was overjoyed at the sight of another grandchild. Linda was excited to share her family with her twin brother. Things were very good upon their visit. Except for Connor. While Connor was civil to his new daughter-in-law and grandchild, he was not happy with Michael. He was disappointed in him and made him know it. Connor would never look at his son the same and would never understand why he ran. Michael decided to stay in Canada and not move back home, but he would visit his mother and siblings and make sure his family knows them better. https://i.ibb.co/DksHSLf/1977-Re-entry-Mike1.png https://i.ibb.co/445R30v/1977-Re-entry-Mike2.png https://i.ibb.co/HGZr78n/1977-Re-entry-Mike3.png https://i.ibb.co/W6GZ3HJ/1977-Re-entry-Mike4.png https://i.ibb.co/Mfb0cZJ/1977-Re-entry-Mike5.png
David Damme was just 18 when he ran off, but he went with the support of his father Arthur. Arthur knew the dangers of war after losing his brother and didn't want to lose his son. Art was happy to hear they could return pardoned and couldn't wait to see his son. David was happy to see everyone, he moved back home. https://i.ibb.co/vP49b50/1977-Re-Entry-David1.png https://i.ibb.co/4WN1mnb/1977-Re-Entry-David2.png https://i.ibb.co/qDZJqMG/1977-Re-Entry-David3.png
Don was turning 50 and Patricia wanted him to have a great party for it. Almost the entire family showed up. It was such a great night that Cate Johnson, George's wife died at the party. Before that everyone was having a great time. https://i.ibb.co/pZNKyKN/1977-Pattalks1.png https://i.ibb.co/HdM7WH5/1977-Don50-Bday1.png https://i.ibb.co/LQ0bb5V/1977-Don50-Bday2.png https://i.ibb.co/WPFXS4H/1977-Don50-Bday3.png https://i.ibb.co/bbdV25V/1977-Cate-Dies.png
After turning 50, Don decided it was time to retire from the movies. He wasn't getting many offers or really any since coming out. He has made a comfortable life for himself and Dean and is ready to just settle down with Dean by his side. https://i.ibb.co/sPZrg8S/1977-Don-Retire1.png https://i.ibb.co/dkMCbYf/1977-Don-Retire2.png
Michelle Hughes turns 6... such a lovely girl with kind of a nasty attitude, but she is her grandmother Betty's favorite. https://i.ibb.co/MPPxsPn/1977-Michelle-Hughes-Bday1.png https://i.ibb.co/TB0fNXM/1977-Michelle-Hughes-Bday2.png https://i.ibb.co/5WpYH8b/1977-Michelle-Hughes-Bday3.png
Brian Wellington. Probably the first low-key birthday this family has had. He didn't want a party, just wanted his family to celebrate. https://i.ibb.co/WgFq7FB/1977-Brian-Well-Bday1.png https://i.ibb.co/wR7vWNZ/1977-Brian-Well-Bday2.png https://i.ibb.co/g74pC0K/1977-Brian-Well-Bday3.png
And our fur baby Bo turns 2. John's best friend and most loyal companion who enjoys to swim. https://i.ibb.co/h218ZwG/1977-Bo-Age-Up1.png https://i.ibb.co/SmD9zVz/1977-Bo-Age-Up2.png https://i.ibb.co/ctkvqmc/1977-Bo-Age-Up3.png https://i.ibb.co/F5Httgv/1977-Bo-Age-Up4.png https://i.ibb.co/XFPQ7br/1977-Bo-Swims.png
It was time for Delores and Warren's 50th Birthday. John had the party all planned out as a family reunion birthday bash. He went to invite Deborah, hoping to patch the family up. The day came and Eve made the cake as the guests arrived. Deborah had even managed to show this time. Of course, Delores was a bit distant from her and gave her the stink eye throughout. At least until the fire broke out. https://i.ibb.co/xz4cR8M/1977-Johninvites-Deb1.png https://i.ibb.co/260jbBL/1977-Johninvites-Deb2.png https://i.ibb.co/H2X48SN/1977-Johninvites-Deb3.png https://i.ibb.co/DGFX0kT/1977-Johninvites-Deb4.png https://i.ibb.co/k8gmSyj/1977-Family-Reunion1.png https://i.ibb.co/7Q3SDfM/1977-Family-Reunion2.png https://i.ibb.co/Y2PDHsG/Fire.png
It started in the living room and Steven tried to put it out but, unknown to anyone as they all began to panic, things went crazy and literally uncontrollable. I literally couldn't do anything to stop the fire since I wasn't actively controlling the lot. So couldn't enter build mode, exit the area, or even get in to stop the fire with my sim. Frustration set in and John called the fire department who arrived super late, too late in fact. As another fire had broken out in the upstairs family room into the roofing above the garage area. Once again the firefighters couldn't even reach it, so after a lot of frustration, I let it burn and even helped it out a bit by starting fires randomly around. https://i.ibb.co/Dtr8nnp/Fire2.png https://i.ibb.co/WvCmM9D/Fire3.png https://i.ibb.co/Rp4FvRw/Fire-4.png https://i.ibb.co/30HF3h9/Fire-5.png https://i.ibb.co/HNwMPY1/Fire-6.png
Since this was the umpteenth time a fire has started on this lot, this time we say farewell to this most beloved home where every sim in this family has come together and sprung from. We say goodbye to this home and hope that the new one doesn't catch fire as often as this one has. It is a family tragedy indeed. They have lost their legacy home and have to rebuild. https://i.ibb.co/3YYC2W4/1977-Family-Reunion-3.png https://i.ibb.co/bsBtqp4/Rebuild.png
*edit:* there are different sets of fire pics because I took them at different times when fires were randomly breaking out on my legacy lot. I am not kidding, near every time I entered this lot a fire would break out. So I have been growing tired of fixing everything after the fires because quite a bit gets destroyed each time, and thus I decided to rebuild a new one.
After a day of the fire, Deborah went to see her mom. She wanted to see how she was doing, as she did just lose her family home, and explain to her why she disappeared and couldn't come home. https://i.ibb.co/QXmV4Qr/1977-Debconfront-Del1.png
Deb told her about Charles's visit to her and how she couldn't face being home or face telling her the truth about her. Deb told her about her new friend Ab whom she loves and how she has to hide her true self from her family and no longer wants to. https://i.ibb.co/svHrYxK/1977-Debconfront-Del2.png
Delores was in no state to hear her excuses let alone to learn that her daughter and only child left in this world was in love with another woman. She told Deb that was no excuse to miss her brother's funeral when her family needed her the most and that she doesn't approve of her relationship and never will. https://i.ibb.co/hYZ5jWX/1977-Debconfront-Del3.png
Deb stormed off and Ab gave Delores a piece of her own mind after trying to help ease the tension between them. Deborah gave her father a hug goodbye. Upon reaching home she cursed her mother and vowed to never see her again. Ab told her to just give her time, after all she lost her son, just lost her family home and found out her daughter is a lesbian. https://i.ibb.co/GPS82K0/1977-Debconfront-Del4.png https://i.ibb.co/Px8Qt0v/1977-Debconfront-Del5.png https://i.ibb.co/K0SydDM/1977-Debconfront-Del6.png https://i.ibb.co/Swy1KGL/1977-Debconfront-Del7.png
Heath tried to plea with Delores about her feelings toward their daughter, but Delores was too blind with anger. https://i.ibb.co/qdJyvyF/1977-Heath-Pleas.png
Will Dean join Don in retirement? Will Delores and Deb ever reconcile their differences? And, will Warren stay sober and get his family home rebuilt?
The 1970s are proving to be a bit trying for this family. So much tragedy and loss I wonder myself what will happen next.
