My Mega Build Is Available- Updated W/More Pictures

Someone once asked me if any of my 18th century builds were available. This after I shared a photo of an old castle. :open_mouth: So, today, I took the plunge and placed my Hawkins Complex in the Gallery. I will remind everyone that it's a Mega Build. It's not in any sense a small building. Nor was it fully based on a description (since I have none) of my seventh (7X) great-grandfather's farmstead. Location: was olde Frederick County, which was merged into the Shenandoah County, in the Northern Neck of the great Colony of Virginia. I'll post a picture of it a bit later, to further entice you. ;) I'm in the midst of playing my game at the moment.

I removed the 'mistakes' from imjur and for a little while the pictures remained in my thread. Today, they aren't there so I just removed them from the thread, too. Later on, I hope to add some pictures of the inside.

  • It is great that you uploaded your Hawkins Complex home to the Gallery :) The exterior design is very nice! Very nice plants glass roof greenhouse!
  • It's nice and big. :o Do you have any shots of the inside?

Also, how do you like playing in large builds - does it take sims a long time to simply get from one room to the other? (I'm on the verge of moving mine into a mega build and I kind of regret it already).

It doesn't appear to take my Sims all that long to get to where they're going.

I did have to add to the one CastleKeep another two sets of stairs, though. I had one set tucked into a corner turret and that made them have to walk the entire length of the Keep. Putting two staircases in places them into one side of the upper floor and dumps them into the dining area. The other takes them from the foyer on up to the opposite side of the upstairs floor. The added staircases:

I will see if I can't get some shots of the inside when I play today. It's just hard to get those shots when the walls are all up. ;)

  • Found a couple of inside shots I took yesterday, and managed to forget about. :open_mouth:

This is the Reception Room, just to the right of the Foyer:

This is the Kitchen, which would normally be an outlying building:

I'll take a few more screenshots today, hopefully. :)

  • Thanks for sharing. It's really nice and an impressive build--it's so big and spacious. I like how historical it feels. I'm a fan of the double tables in the dining room.

Thanks also for mentioning the situation with the stairs. I'm going to make sure that my build has enough ways to access the second floor.

Thank you. I had very much hoped to capture the flavor of the time. :)

Best of luck on your build. I have to say I had a blast with mine. I was unhappy with all previous builds for this family. Like I said, I've yet to read of any description of this Complex my seventh great-grandfather owned. It was stated he put up palisades (those fences with the spikes on top) likely during the French and Indian War. He was also about the only one who grew rice in the entire Shenandoah Valley at that time. I saw a house I liked and that inspired this build.
  • The interior furnishings are lovely! :) Very nice patterned walls, and wall paneling. Very lovely reception room. with a fireplace sofa and armchair sitting area. The candles are calming and pretty. Very nice chequered flooring in the kitchen. Sims will enjoy the sunshine coming in through the windows whilst cooking meals. The long dining table in the dining room is very nice! Many sims would enjoy eating meals together there. It is nice there is a globe bar for Sims to have a drink with their meals :)
