Episode 45: A Turning Point For Elliott

A little update on Elliott who except for the occasional shot with Faith, has been MIA since the wedding.

And that's why Elliott has been giving serious thought to a change in profession. He's been spending long days at the law office and coming home long after after Faith was in bed and asleep. A sudden surge in cases also meant that he was needed at the office on most weekends.

He felt like he was missing all the important infant milestones and wanted to spend more time with his family.

Elliott had always had a love of the arts and had even considered majoring in Art History while at college but he caved in to the imagined pressure from his parents, both high powered attorneys, and chose a career in law. He was regretting that choice and was wondering if it was too late to make a change.

Hannah had decided to take a few years off to be home with Faith so why couldn't he consider something like that. A job without all the pressure, competitiveness, and long hours. As much as he loved working with juveniles in the public defender's office he also wanted more time to spend with his own family. And they were doing well financially thanks to the Watcher and her best friend Motherlode. He decided to discuss it with Hannah.

While Hannah put Faith down for a nap Elliott made a pot of coffee. He brought Hannah a cup and told her he needed to talk to her. It sounded serious and he looked serious so Hannah immediately sat down and turned to Elliott with a question in her eyes.

He began by telling Hannah how much he missed being able to equally contribute to the care and raising of their daughter so he wanted to leave his job in law and pursue something that would give him more time with Hannah and Faith. Something that wouldn't be so draining that even when he was with them he wasn't a hundred percent there.

Hannah reminded Elliott of how much he'd loved studying to become a lawyer. She wanted Elliott to be absolutely sure he wouldn't regret switching to another profession.

Elliott assured Hannah that he'd given it a lot thought and wanted to try his hand at painting. He reminded her that Art History had been his first choice for a college degree.

Hannah tells Elliott she will support him in whatever he decides to pursue. She only wants him to be happy.
