I'm always interested in new, never-seen-before content in the Sims. I would also like having a reverse opportunity : playing in the Criminal career and being sent to a party to do "dirty" work in exchange of bonuses or performance boost. Then, on the lot, setting traps and fooling the investigator in order to stay undetected. A lot trait could allow us to create mansions all across the worlds where theses parties are thrown at. A mute trait would set an another obstacle on the dangerous investigation, as well allow us to create Sims with an interesting disability. Having a investigator or a reporter with high logic and physique skill could help him avoid several traps, making the gameplay less dangerous, and at the opposite, criminals with high handiness could create more dangerous traps. At the end, only the best shall be victorious.
I really like all these ideas! I’d absolutely want these details added, and I think you're probably right that a mystery event should be available on any lot, but my thought was that violence can’t really be shown on screen for the sake of the game rating and the time it would take to make the animations, so instead, a few special lots that “black out” the rooms that your sim is not in (similar to the temple in JA or the lab in SV) might be the simplest solution.
