Background History by @sawdust
Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Ellawyn and I was born in the small town of Rosetree about 3 days journey from Castellan, the city in which I grew up. I was sent to the Temple of Junos there on the fourth anniversary of my birth. How that came to be some would call Divine will, but others of lesser faith would claim it to be no more than coincidence. I would come to see it as my calling and I could never imagine walking another path.
It was custom for those who followed the god Junos to seek out one of his priest's before the first anniversary of their child's birth to receive the god's blessing. It was a simple ritual where the priest would inscribe a six pointed star on the child's shoulder with holy water symbolizing the hand of Junos and hence his protection upon the child. However it seems I was a little impatient, at least that is what my father use to say, as I was born already so marked. When the local priest saw the mark he insisted my parents make arrangements for me to enter into the Orders of Junos as soon as I was old enough. While I do not remember any of this, for I was far too young, I do remember the first day I entered the city and saw the Temple of Junos where I would receive my training. It towered over the other buildings and seemed so grand I thought Junos must abide there in person which, made me a little afraid and very excited at the same time.
Initially I missed my father and mother and while family visits were not encouraged, lest trainees be distracted, neither were they disallowed. My mother would visit the first Sondas of each month and father would come when he could. Sometimes business would bring him to the city unexpectedly and we would have a brief time together before he had to leave. As time passed I grew in both my abilities and love for my god. I devoted myself to the training I received and excelled in the healing arts and conjuring wards of protection. Life in the city brought many opportunities to hone my skills but it was going to battle that made me realise how crucial my devotion and calling were to me. That story though is for another time for I see my mentor and friend Rufius coming my way and by the grave look upon his face, I suspect another battle looms on the horizon.
