Spoiler
I was eating my bread, walking outside of the cottage to do my duty and I was startled, hearing loud voices. The sharp sounds of a man, yelling. I went to look. Katia looked at me, shaking, whilst talking to someone, seemingly he was an old orc, his skin was weathered and he had very little teeth. He was speaking of the Harvest Moon.
He was speaking of the Harvest Moon. The old orc said, “Beware of the Harvest moon! Tis, the harvest, the night with three moons in the sky. If you know what is good for you, be gone before it comes for you!” He said to Katia, raging at her.
Being angered and raged, protecting my friend, Katia, I went violently at this old orc.
Remembering if I need it my sword was at my back. I pulled the orc up by his scruff. Shaking him for more information. I threatened him with my sword. Saying, “Old man, if there is more to tell do tell or I will slice you here and now!”
My temper was raging as the old orc just went silent, as he had no more words. I could tell there was no getting to this old orc even shaking him half to death! I said to the old orc, “Go! We don’t need your kind here.
The old orc would not budge, he was a stubborn fool! I said to him, “I will pick you up and throw you off the Kilmir’s land if I need to! He stood there unintimidated by me, I picked him up over my shoulders and threw him off the path.
I was now enraged! My heart was pounding, I wanted to draw my sword! I watched as he fled into the village, making sure he was not to come back.
I went over to Katia, I could see she was still shaken. “Katia, He is gone. I watched him flee towards the village. If he returns, I will protect my friends from this old fool! The next time, if it be, I will pull out my sword and slash him to pieces!”
I thought to myself, how did I become so angry, so enraged? Then I remembered, a villager in my village, he was a barbarian with great strength and the reputation of simply killing someone with his hands with no remorse or excuse. I saw him as a young child, once, pick up an old elf man by his throat and shake him, choking him until his death. It scared me but too I was fascinated by his grit. This flash in time came to me when I was enraged at the old orc and envisioning this, I naturally became something I was unfamiliar with, as I would at the time of drawn my sword and sliced this old orc with no thought!
I sat down, calming myself, it helped to think of my Mother and my sister. Even though I missed them, the thought of them seemed to sooth me.
Walking back into the cottage, the group seemed distracted and detached. Darius, I noticed, was rambling through his kit. I said to him, “Darius, Has anybody discussed about a night watch? That old man could come back, I do not trust him. Gnaabak has seemed to have fled, very suspiciously.
I knew he was not to be trusted.” Darius says, “Yes, we need to keep a watch this night about the cottage. "I will go first." Darius replied. “I, Yes, I will go next. That is very brave of you, Darius. Wake me, as I will get some rest before its my time to take watch.” Darius nodded.
As I awoke from my slumber, still feeling very sleepy, I remembered my Father coming to me in my sleep, as I dreamed. It was if he was standing right beside me. I remember him saying to me, “Son, I come to you feeling very proud of the young man you have become, free spirited, humble and kind but too you’re a protective of those you care for. I watched you many times, in the forest practicing with your sword and son you’re a natural, swift and cunning. This journey you’re on protect your comrades and keep them safe as I have seen this is dangerous journey you are on. Remember, I am here with you and have always been here."
I relieved Darius of his watch, telling him to get some sleep. Were there any happenings on your watch? “No, everything was still and quiet.” He walked off into the night.
As I sat my watch, I thought of my dream with my father coming to me. I smiled at his words he said to me but too thought of his warning of danger. I cuddled up to the side of the cottage, where I had clear view of the land with my lantern. I walked about time to time but, seeing nothing of suspense.
I must have fallen asleep when I awoke from a sound. I heard rustling, footsteps but they were very light. I yelled, “Come hither! Was not the sounds of a animal, I heard deep breathing and grunting. I ran about, chasing the sounds. I saw fire coming from the distance. Not like something was on fire, but a fire ball!
I ran inside to warn the others. Yelling, “It’s a fire ball, in the distance! Seth came running out. The others followed, witnessing what I had seen! All of us just stood there in fright, not knowing what this exactly could be. We all discussed it as it vanished in the night. Safiya says to us all. “I’ve heard of these sightings, we all must keep watch through the night, this is of dark spirits watching us.”
We all looked at her, staring as she seemed serious and cautious of what we all had seen.
The night was long, some of us had not had much sleep. We take our leave and head for the forest. This time I take the lead.
