It was going to be a mid-October launch, but have decided to launch now as it may take some time for people to decide to join and to get judges etc sorted.
1. Mhybor’s Harvest (adapted loosely from a Dungeons and Dragons module)
A writing, roleplay and modelling competition for keen fantasy fans and writers. I’ve tried to cater to a range of people with the mix of class characters I’ve chosen, so I hope you find it interesting! It's mainly about the writing, so if you are a keen writer then this will be ideal for you.
It’s the first time I’ve even attempted to do this in a competition context, so I welcome any feedback or suggestions as we go along. Whether the information is too much, or doesn't give you enough room for your own creative writing, these are the sort of things I’ll need feedback about.
The length and timing of this competition will depend on participation and how the story evolves. I will be trusting you as players, and my judges, to help me review this as it goes along, but as a ball park figure I’d be giving between 10-14 days to complete each round.
I will provide some of the backgrounds for certain rounds as the shots will sometimes need to be taken in a specific location, such as a cave, or dungeon, but I will inform people of that as we go along.
2. The Game I will be giving an introduction for your short narratives. Each character should respond in their short story as their particular class would, and role play their character as part of their application and future rounds. First person Point Of View would be great, but third person POV is okay too depending on your writing style.
Each round I will create a scenario that you can expand on through your character’s role in your writing, accompanied by the continuity of the story. I will have a short sentence in each round for each class character, giving them a scaffold sentence to their story. How you choose to use that in your writing is up to you. In other words, you are not required to use the exact sentence, but it is a guideline you will need to write to, in order to keep the story-line consistent. Dialogue is welcome.
Each round will delve deeper into and continue the story. This will be how the rounds are set up. The short introduction I do for each assignment will hopefully kick-start your inspiration for your writing and keep it relatively consistent with the other players. I will adjust each future assignment to incorporate all individual write ups. It will be exciting to see where each round takes us!
Here is a tag list of Sims 3 and 4. I wanted to give everyone an opportunity to check this out. If you would like your name removed or added please let me know as I know some of you are not into writing comps.
If you have some extra time on your hands, Tonya, really look at your writing and editing and use everything you've learnt and check your writing even more thoroughly.

Our excursion continued, heading for a forest. The parting was an agreed one. Ellawyn had told us of these ‘Cult of the Dragons’, called eye-blades. Ellawyn tells us they are archers and protect the cave entrance. We must examine the cave with all the discoveries and evidence, leading to the Kilmir’s vanishings. I was anxious as we all walked together, uncertain of what was ahead of us. Darius came up to me walking beside me. His gear was weighing him down. “Darius, Can I lighten your load? Hand over your kit.” Darius handed it over with a nod of thanks, shyly. I said to him, “Anytime, mate, we are both elves, let’s stick together.” He agreed with a chuckle and We carried on. Katia whistled us all over saying, “We all need to make a plan of attack. I am going ahead to do some tracking and make sure its all safe for us to proceed.” We gathered and we all had our different opinions of how to plan. This is going to be difficult here we have a mage, cleric, druid, sorceress, rogue, ranger and me. I hope this goes well! As they all discussed the attack I just stood back. All I could hear was “I think, I think.” Ellawyn piped up saying, “We should proceed the path but, with caution as I am sensing much danger. If anything should happen we have healers, magic, strength, and those with great senses. We were all called upon for this mission for one reason or another so let’s just agree to follow the path there is no need in us breaking up. I think we should stick together.” We nodded in agreement. Our travels through the forest were daunting. It was hard to keep my footing with all my tackle. The sun was rising through the trees, unveiling huge dark wood trees with blood-vines twisting as far as the eye could see. I noticed the path we were on was clear of debris. I thought to myself, we must be getting near the cave after walking up a sloped hill. Yes, I thought to myself. I see a clearing. Abruptly, Ellawyn and Katia stop us in our tread. Ellawyn calls us all over to the side of the path. She says to us all “These eye-blades are dangerous and are superior archers, and we must advance with care.” Katia chimes in, “These creatures have been observing us as we walked. I found footprints to be canine and droppings, but these are not just canine they are of some species I have no knowledge about. Carry on, unhurriedly but attentive, with great carefulness.” As I have these beasts in my sight, I continue very carefully. As I approach, I cannot believe the size of these canine’s. I’ve never seen anything of this kind myself. Their howling’s are thunderous to my ears. I go low to the ground not to threaten them anymore than I am. I turn back swiftly to see if everyone is ok, then I keep approaching. As I get closer they start to howl. Then start howling like beasts not canines and salivate. Their eyes are of fire, crimson and evil. They lunge at me as I am checking my gear. My heart is pounding as they are all over me, and all I can see is teeth and their crimson eyes. I lose my footing, then back to my feet, able to throw a couple off me then the others. I go for a small tree I easily snap in half, heaving it at these beasts. I look, and two are badly hurt, flat on the ground. I Yell, “Come at me you foul beasts!” As I reach for my axe! My temper is flaring, and I am furious trying to protect my companions. “I will take down anything ahead of me to guard my companions! So, come at me if you dare!” All the while waving and thrusting my axe towards them. I swing as they start approaching, taking my axe with all my strength and firing it at them one by one. Screaming, “I am, Teagan, protector of my group! I will slay each one of you.” I fire my axe and charging at them all. I watched as one went down after another but shockingly they get back up. As I turn around I see Safiya and Seth conjuring these magic spells. This was my first involvement to see magic and what magic can do. I was amazed by this magic I was seeing before my eyes! I could hear them intoning and marvelously beholding these creatures take leave.
