New Social Event - Babysitting!
I was thinking about how much I wish my sims could become closer with their family members who live in other households, specifically the younger sims, and I had this idea for a new social event for babysitting!
One of the things I really enjoyed in TS3 was the daycare career and how interactive it was. But I didn't like that if your game needed more sims for your sim to take care of, random sims would spawn, just for you to care for them. So instead of having a daycare career, I think it would be better to have a babysitting social event. That way, your sims could develop personal relationships with family members and friends who actually matter to them.
I know that you could just invite them to hang out at your current lot, but at least for me, it seems like my sims never stick around for very long when I do that. Social events tend to be longer and the activities tend to be focused on a specific theme.
Some of the activities could be things like helping kids with their homework, reading books together, playing games, taking care of toddlers, potty training, etc. This could also integrate with the Parenthood pack and your sims could work on their parenting skill before actually becoming parents. Plus, it could be almost more of a challenge since the kids/toddlers aren't in your household and therefore you can't see their needs. Just like how babysitting in real life can be more challenging than taking care of your own kids since you typically aren't as familiar to the cues and signals of someone else's kids.
The rewards for completing silver/gold babysitting events could be things to make future babysitting events easier to accomplish or more fun, like the toy box or stuffed animals. I picked those items specifically because they can be used by both toddlers and children.
I think this event could be available for teens-elders, with the babysitting charges as toddlers and kids.
I would really love to know what you all think. This is something I came up with in about 5 minutes, so there's probably ways to change it to make it better!
