Non-binary pronouns and inclusive plurals (the last for spanish)

We need non-binary pronouns for sims than are not women nor men.
Would be not so complicated (as certain mod I saw), in fact with the gend er patch, it would be easier to implement
Just sims with edited gender can be labeled as non-binary

And now the spanish part (and other languages, if exist, where plurals have gender and the plural for mixed group is the male plural): We need INCLUSIVE LANGUAGE

  • As long as its optional and doesnt change all text/notifications for everyone. It should still allow my female sims to be considered she instead of they, for example.
  • Realistically, I dont see non-binary pronouns being added for everyone anytime soon. Dont get me wrong, I'm all for it. But keep in mind that the game is played in several other languages. My question is, how do you add non-binary pronouns for someone who's playing a game in a language that genders everything and does not recognize non-binary pronouns? You can't drop the English word "they" in someone's game where their language doesnt officially recognize it, doesnt know what you do with it, or how and when you use it.

The team has told us before that this is something they want to do, but its the implementation that's the understandably hard part. If they manage to figure it out, great! But I dont see a feasible option coming soon.
  • The problem is in some languages this doesn‘t work. For example in German, They translates to "Sie", but "Sie" also means she/her.

The only working option would be to use names instead of pronouns.
For example: “Bob Pancakes just got promoted! Bob Pancakes is now a Master Chef“
  • No, I have to be blunt and say that it's not worth it. This would require for the sims team spend a very long time like...several years rewriting all the text in the game and for several languages that the game supports there is no non-binary pronouns that really work. You can't just replace it with "they". It doesn't work with just using names either, some languages have genders for everything.

Maxis would have to rewrite everything. Make the sims 5 support it instead, I want Maxis to work on the game, not rewriting text.
  • no I don't want that in my game.
It is a sandbox game, create it in your story

English recognize officially non binary pronouns?
    Its same!
Per example, the 2nd part of the title, and my post, the so called "lenguaje inclusivo" is not recognized officially by RAE, but each time is more used at Latam
Even at Argentina is accepted write official documents using lenguaje inclusivo
  • In french, we don't have gender neutral ''they'' its either ''ils'' for men or ''elles'' for female. If a group of people are mixed genders, they are called ''ils''. I really don't think it offend people that much... that would be pushed isn't it?

Also, everything has a gender, a table is feminine, a chair is feminine, a hammer is masculin etc... there is no rules, and I already sees some issues in my game in the translation, with using the name sometime instead of the pronouns, it makes the sentence weird and hard to read. That being said, I don't see a huge problem with using the name instead of pronouns, but I don't want more of this gender problematic in my game.

No thank you, I love my language, and the special rules that applies to it.

There are always something we could point out about every languages, or gendered roles etc... but at the end of the day, thats to each individual to work on themself to get over small thing like this. Does it really affect your life to the point you need to change to world and annoye people over it? Ill be real here, yes it can be in the end annoying those type of issue, when it touches almost no one. Its hard to make it an issue really, but for some people it is...?

Like in french, when we talk about nurses, we think female (because they are majority in this trade) so we always talk about nurse like ''infirmières'' instead of the masculine name ''infirmiers'', and if I was myself a nurse, I would not mind people thinking like that because I would not be in majority... there is nothing wrong really.

Same for firefigther, in french '' pompiers''. When people talk in general about firefighter, they says ''pompiers'' because they are majority males, instead of ''pompières'', the female version. Again, nothing wrong about it.
