Non-family players want bunkbeds, too!
I also play some families, but my focus is on teenagers and young adult roommates (and they also party). The reason I started this thread is that I was genuinely surprised during the Tiny Living lifes...

Whatever reason a dev gives for a feature not being in a game is whatever excuse they could come up with on the spot, and the playerbase takes it at face value but it was never the real reason.
I can safely say it has nothing to do with family or non family players, it's more that they don't care to invest the time and money bunk beds would require for now.
It's much more fun making over the top murphy bed death animations, or something.
If TS4 devs have to choose between wacky and sensible, they will always, always go for wacky.
