At this late stage of this version, they are not going to overhaul the teen life stage. That would not only be next to impossible but very costly and a waste of time and talent. Literally, everything about teens would need to be remade anew as 95% of teen programing is just adult programing. To create an all new teen life stage would require all new clothes (they share the adult sizes for clothes, so...), new reaching for things interactions as arm length and hand levels would have moved, sitting levels will change and need to be remade, every single aspect of teens would need to be erased from the game and replaced with the new programing. And the worst part would be that every teen in every save that every player has ever created or "birthed" will no longer exist because that programing will have been erased. Thanks, but no thanks. Save it for S5.
At this stage I'm hoping they keep supporting TS4 for atleast 3-5 more years. More than enough time for them to overhaul this system.
Even by hoping to support Sims 4 for at least 3-5 more years, changing the heights would effect too much of what is already in the game. CAS assets would need to be altered as well as animations. It's too much, too expensive. The best option, I feel, would be to wait until the next iteration is released. It's something I hope for as well.
Edit: What Dannydanbo said, lol.
If they really can't do anything to alter the current teens we atleast need a pre teen life state added into the game. - Totally agree OP, it’s always bothered me too. Not only is it nearly impossible to tell them apart from adults, I’m sure we’ve all found that annoying at some point just in general in game lol.. But it feels disproportionate of the whole life cycle thing, like what are the age representations here?
Toddlers 1-4
Kids 5-12
Teens 17-18??
Young adults 19-25 etc..
I get why they did it, less time programming on teens/ rushed out game/ laziness, whatever you wanna call it.. it’s just a shame they never went back to fix it.
And as for people saying some teenagers are super tall; why don’t teens start off shorter and have a “growth spurt” at random, sometime throughout the teen stage? Could easily fit in TS4 with a 24hr emotion buff for the parents “oh my baby’s growing so fast” or something similar lol just saying - Fluteline246 years agoSeasoned Ace

No, we don't. There is nothing unique about preteens that can't be added to the child or teen phase. - wexxam6 years agoSeasoned Ace

There is currently a massive age gap between children and teens due to teens presumably being around 17/18 years old as someone had already stated (based on height). This issue reminds me of when babies turned into children right away (when we didn't have toddlers). Pre teens could fill this gap. That or they should reduce the teen height to differentiate them from the older life stages."nerdfashion;c-17293436" wrote:
I don't think they were being lazy on this one, just making it a bit more realistic. Teens, especially girls, reach full height before adulthood.
If you played TS4 from the beginning you would know it was because of "laziness". They needed to rush this game out the door which was why teens+ are all the same height. Even elders. And this was also the reason why we never had toddlers and babies only being objects. - JanuaryGarnet086 years agoSeasoned AceIf they make teens a separate height they will need their own clothing category, and seeing as how kids and toddlers have their own categories and generally get almost nothing by way of new clothing I sincerely hope that that just leave things alone.
- As much as I agree that teens should be shorter, they're not going to size them down 5 years into the game. Teens being shorter than adults is something that should have been planned day one, to change it now after 5 years would be pointless. And it sucks because we don't even really have "teens" in the game, but 2 sets of young adults. It most we can only hope for TS5 to have actual teens around the age of 13 who are shorter than the adults and have totally different interactions.
- Babykittyjade6 years agoSeasoned AceWith the way ts4 is now I'm actually glad teens are like young adults because they would end up just like kids with nothing to do and no meaning in life.
- They need to overhaul the Sims personalities if anything, they should all feel different with unpredictable outcomes. The heights don’t bother me much at this point, I’d prefer an extra life stage.

Why would you want it unrealistic?
Teens should be shorter than YA+
I know plenty of teens who are taller than their parents and grand parents.I always get confused when I see teens and YA they are literally exactly the same and can do almost anything YA sims can do..
Sounds like real life.
Go clubbing, run into teens with fake id, many of whom weren't even carded on entry, meanwhile, all the 30+ year olds get carded...
Okay but why are you excusing their laziness?
It was probably what they were ordered to do. Are they supposed to go against the things they are ordered to do? That is not laziness - it is following there bosses orders. Sometimes people are not asked they are told what to do. Someone obviously over them decided how teen should be in this rendition.- Sam_XNE9976 years agoSeasoned Ace

Are you suggesting that they should make teens in the Sims taller than adults?
I know you aren't, I was being silly -- but this is a game, not real life. Having teens shorter than the adults would help many players easily tell ages apart. For what it's worth, I was taller than my daughter when she was a teen. As adults, I still am. This request I imagine is not to portray how humans are in real life, it's more about how to make identification easier in game.
This. I would consider doing it this way as an acceptable break from reality for the sake of player convenience. After all, The Sims is a game generally far from being an accurate depiction of human life despite being classified as a ‘life sim’ game. The way I see it, it is a life simulation based on the Sims universe that borrows several basic concepts from real life, but not all of it.
