1. A few weeks ago @Maladi777 and I discussed plot and character driven stories. I personally think character driven in the sims is quite different from the novels. So the question is: Do you write your story more based of your sims whims or from the story you planned for them? Why?
100% I write for the stories I plan. I barely look at their whims to be honest, I know I'm a mean creator lol. Since I already have most of what I want to happened planned out their whims usually don't follow along. Though a story driven purely by whims would be a fun challenge.
2. And following up to that, if 'planned' how do you deal with situations the game throws at you? (Unexpected deaths, alien abductions, wrong emotions for the screenshots)
I then write them into the story. When I say I have my story planned out it very loose. Meaning I have ideas of what I want to happen, I do not have my whole story mapped out. Sometimes I like having those unexpected throngs to happen. In fact it happens in one of my stories shortly and it exactly gave me a great story line to play with!
3. How do you enhance time jumps in your story? Sims grow up so fast and sudden, how do you make this work?
I only deal with time really in my legacy story. And with that I never really let on about how much time passes. I try not to flat out say the next day or a week later. I make it very vague so that it could be a lot of time or a little passing. If that makes sense lol.
4. The Sims is limited to the content we have and can download. (think CC, mods) How do you deal with situation where there is no content available to represent... Well, what you want to represent! CC or mods like I said? Or rather photoshop or describing the situation with our awesome writing skills (Cause I think you've all got some mad writing skills)?
There's never really been anything that I'm missing for me stories, and I don't use CC. (I get scared it will lag my laptop). I mean there are certain things I know I can't write so I just shy away from that. But there is a lot you can cheat in this game with doffeent camera angles and some crafty writing.
