Off-the Grid Challenge Island Living!

Hello there! So, while diving in (pun intended) to the new pack I decided to start right away with the rags to riches challenge. I always find it more fun to work my way up from nothing. Sometimes even doing that it feels like the challenge difficulty is over too quickly. Well I changed the rules to suit my sim last night and I think I found a challenge that is incredibly well... challenging.

Your sim was out enjoying a day relaxing on a rowboat when they fell asleep. They awoke when their boat capsized just off the coast of the island of Sulani. Their wallet and all other belongings were lost at sea. Now it’s up to them to survive in their newfound oasis.

Rules:
1. Live in Sulani in a lot trait that is “off the grid”. This is specific because the collectibles are less easy to find in this world.
2. Reset household funds to 0
3.Your sim won’t be able to leave Sulani and venture outside until they live in a four-walled home. The exception to this rule would be to take a dog to the vet or have a baby at a hospital. But you aren’t permitted to talk to anyone beyond the caregiver nor are you permitted to gather collectibles while you’re there.
4. In order to buy a home, your sim must earn $10,000 in reserve.
5. Your sim may only earn money by doing odd jobs, beach-combing, playing for tips (if they manage to buy an instrument for themselves) and selling other collectibles (and only with the yard sale table and function if you have City Living). As an added challenge (though I found this plenty hard without adding anything more difficult) - limit the odd jobs to one a day.
6. (Optional) Make it so your sim has to have a level 4 of Handiness before they can 'make' the yard sale table.
7. To make the challenge even harder, you can strand your survivalist with a child or pet. Caring for someone else besides themselves takes time away from tending to their own needs so things can get pretty crazy. For instance my dog kept jumping in bushes and getting bit by squirrels which was a huge vet bill.
8. No formal careers allowed.
9. (Optional) Can't use the cooler or fridge to have a "quick" meal. If you want to cook, you have to catch your own food - fish - or harvest Coconuts, Pineapples, etc and cook them on the bonfire or campfire.

I hope you’ll find this as fun as I did!
  • Sorry to double post but I hope you don't mind I've rewritten the challenge rules and adapted some for my first round of this challenge, as follows:

Here are the rules I’ve merged from kitnkabootle, abbyblueflower and JojoMOMSTAR.

    Overboard, Stranded and Alone

Key Points to Being Stranded in Key Point

    - Start by being stranded in Key Point, Sulani (Hard mode: have more than 1 Sim*, e.g. toddler and/or a baby, and/or a child and/or a teen**)
    - Keep lot traits to Ocean Paradise and Off-the-grid, and can add a third lot trait for your play
    - Set funds to §0 to start the challenge (Hard mode: earn §10,000 to build a home fitting Off-the-Grid Island Living aesthetic)
    - Survive on Mua Pel’Am (or Key Point for Hard mode) alone until you can get an Outrigger Canoe to travel beyond Mua Pel’Am
    - You are unemployed as you’re disconnected from the world--until you've built a home (with at least a bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchen area and a pier) and own a canoe*** (1 canoe = 1 YA/Adult Sim)
    - There is no socialising with wandering Sims or leaving Key Point until you get a canoe!
    - Earn §§§ by doing odd jobs. (Hard mode: one odd job a day)
    Beachcombing
    Fishing
Gardening (Hard mode: Only use Sim-made planters)
Paintings - Sims must autonomously start painting, only allowed during day
Woodworks - sell 3 a day (Hard mode: sell 1 per day)
Writing books is against rules but Sim can keep a journal

The Route to Rescue and Beyond (Milestones & Aspirations)

    1. Achieve Beach Life to become a true local and unlock marriage.
    2. Achieve Well-off (3rd milestone of Fabulously Wealthy) and Estate of Art (1st milestone of Mansion Baron) milestones to wire electricity into your home for §25,000 (Hard mode: Complete Fabulously Wealthy & Estate of Art Aspirations to buy electricity for your home costing §25,000)

    5. Achieve Fine-Tuned (2nd milestone of Musical Genius) to unlock better music for others to give you decent tips
    6. After building a home and completing an Aspiration (as well as the above), you have the freedom to do leave Sulani and go back to on the grid or stay off the grid. Or a bit of both.
    7. You can buy a canoe if you’ve got the funds or build your canoe (Hard mode: Get a canoe after reaching Fishing Skill Level 10 & Handiness Skill Level 5). Sim must complete a milestone (Hard mode: Every YA/Adult must complete a milestone) made possible without the use of electricity.

    * - There is no daycare, Sim toddlers must go be with a Teen/Adult but Sims babies cannot go on the canoe and must remain on Key Point.
