Just read the OP so I'm sure I repeat many, but how come then my S3 game isn't lagging on my three years old computer?
I would like some tips then :)
Out of the box, it's laggy.
Open world obviously take more process power (that's a fact).
But some stuff in TS3 lacks optimization as well.
I hardly started ts3 since i have ts4. Can't stand the long loading times :(
Ever heard of NRaas mods? They saved my game's plum.
A company shouldn't rely on mods. They should fix it themselves.
I completely agree, but what are you gonna do. It's the same case with TS4, too.
I haven't used mods for any of my sims games. I have less issues with 4.
By mods I meant the one that fixes the aging glitch, since EA apparently didn't bother to do so.
Was there an aging glitch in 3? I never noticed. lol
I meant the one from TS4. Shimrod's mod. :p
Is there an aging glitch in 4? I never noticed. lol
The "wide jaw, small eyes" glitch.
Oh. I still haven't seen it. But then, I just play the game.
Same with other players out there. Believe it or not, there might even be a simmer who has never experienced glitches, lag, and crashes in SIms 3. Glitches don't define a game. It's the content the game has to offer.
It doesn't matter how much content a game has if it keeps crashing.
I'm sorry you had a bad experience with 3 but not all of us have it as hard as you do. My TS3 runs flawlessly (with the help of mods, of course). "Jimil;13014245" wrote:

And sims 3 regarding the sims themselves has nothing to offer. (imo). Plus they are ugly to boot. without cc. The only thing I REALLY like about sims 3 is World Adventures. And that's why it's still on my computer.- Open worlds and CASt do not = lag, period. The unoptimized game engine and poor coding used in TS3 = performance issues. Even without them we still have performance issues and save corruptions in TS4.
Also, no, all the inactives were not simulated doing *everything* your active household does. When they were in their houses, they were in a state called "partial suspended animation". The fact that they made an engine where trying to correctly route a sim consumes such huge chunks of memory and processing power, is one of the main reasons for performance issues. Nothing to offer? How do you even explain open world? It's one major content that sparked a lot of simmers.
I didn't play open world til 2012. It's not that big of a deal, to me. Not when it downgraded who and what the sims is about. And yes, it did.- Miataplay11 years agoLegend

I loved the Sims 3 open world! :D
It was esp beautiful in Sunlit Tides, settings on high. <3
I had very little lag, usually it ran great. Esp after I upgraded the PC.
When I 1st bought Sims, it randomly crashed.
I later found out it was from having an inadequate PC.
I've learned a LOT since then.
In fact, learned a lot about PC's in general, in the process of the Sims games.
Esp how I can now play Sims 2 on graphics that are close to Sims 3, due to a program tweaking the graphics settings.
Only issue was with IP. The routing issues had to be fixed, to make it playable.
Crashing was almost non-existent, UNLESS, I played online and tried to use "Player Wall", during game play.
Then it was about 30% chance of crashing.
Otherwise, I had the game open all day, between playing, and making dinner IRL, etc., and never crashed.
With IP I fixed most of the routing issues in my game by redoing all the lots that I wanted to keep and replacing the rest. There are not as many ports in my game. My game only crashes if I'm surfing the net and watching movies on YouTube while it's running! There will be lag in all sims games....just you wait for all the store items and ep and if some of you like cc...add that in to the many factors that cause lag. "fullspiral;13014078" wrote:

Yes, but they're not going to be fixed. And right now, Sims 3 is very cheap. To me, it's worth it to play a game that's fun even though I have to use bug fix mods to make it playable."fullspiral;13014270" wrote:

I might be alone here but I've seen a lot of Sims 4 sims and they are all ugly to me. Maybe it's their plastic faces and hyperactive eyebrows, or the melted looking hair. I don't know but they look hideous to me. I prefer Sims 3 sims."SelenaGrey;13014254" wrote:
