Raven Blackburn was cursed. Yes, cursed. She had met and had a short fling with a teen named Markus Spellman, who she had met at a friend's party on her teen birthday.
She realized, shortly thereafter, that Markus had been a bad mistake. And, so, she rejected him, ghosted him really, until he showed up at her house shouting angry words at her.
Well, little did she know that Markus was a wizard, and he became quite angry at her rejection and placed a curse on her. He cursed her to only be attracted to sims who were the complete opposite of herself. And, Raven had a year to get rid of the curse, to find her "perfect" sim, or she would be cursed forever and never find true love.
It was a rainy day in spring when Raven arrived in Copperdale. She had arrived that morning by bus, and had scouted around for a spot to call "home". She had found a spot under a bridge, near, what looked like an amusement park, which suited her just fine.
And from the looks of the place, she wasn't the first one to call this place "home". It would do. Afterall, it was just another place to "hang her hat"...for awhile. Yeah, for awhile. The truth was that she had lived in so many places, had moved so often, that she could barely remember what town she was in. But there had been a time when she had stayed in one place. Lived in a house with parents who had loved and cared about her. But that was a long time ago, and things had just gone downhill after her parents had died in a house fire. Raven felt her eyes mist up and she quickly wiped the tears away.
How long ago was that? Three years' now? When she had just been a child, and she had been left alone in the world. With her parents gone, and with no close relatives, Raven had been placed in foster care. She had been in and out of foster homes so many times, that her life felt like a revolving door. That's because no-one wanted her.
Since her parents' death, Raven had developed quite a temper. She was always causing problems at the foster home where she lived, breaking curfew, and staying out all night partying. In school, she had poor grades and seemed to always get in fights. They called her a party-girl and a trouble-maker. And so she would be shuffled off to the next foster home with the same results. No one really understood her and no-one really cared. She hated her life. So, shortly after her teen birthday and her strange encounter with Markus Spellman, she had run away, and had been living on the streets ever since.
Which had brought her here. To Copperdale. Another chance at a new life. Another chance to have her dreams come true. Another chance to maybe find someone who would accept her as she was. Another chance to have that same loving relationship that she remembered her parents had. Another chance is all she wanted.

Raven pulled up the collar of her jacket and lifted her small backpack from the ground. The amusement park didn't seem very far and she could really use something hot to drink. She rummaged in her backpack for her wallet, and then remembered that she had used the last of her simoleons on the bus ticket. She bit her lip. She had no-one else to count on but herself. She could do this. With a determined look, she slung her backpack over her shoulder and trudged towards the fairgrounds feeling cold and wet.
