Optional Auto Save
I was thinking since the games been crashing since the latest patch it would be very useful if we had an auto save feature in game, there's nothing more annoying than playing for hours and then losing...

Absolutely not. I want to be in full control all the time of what gets saved, including gameplay event and bugs.
Use Save As and save often.
An alternative to auto save is a reminder to save, although I find that unnecessary use of resources, as it is simple for the player to create a routine of taking responsibility to save their own game.
