Or even, if the act of being struck twice still gives you *temporary* powers, but with a chance to take some further action that "locks them in" as being permanent, if that makes sense? i.e., maybe a drink you have to mix and drink while the powers are active, or a special NPC sim you talk to who grants to permanent powers?
