The best thing to do is just periodically back up your tray folder. I back my stuff up to OneDrive once a month. It's better that way anyway because when EA's online services run into issues (like they often do) you'll still have access to your backups.
I noticed that there is a cloud storage option in Origin. Would it be easy for them to enable that for The Sims 4?
