Today was one of the best days of my life. For starters, I got to sneak off to work on the cloning machine long enough to make up for that tourist incident. The cloning machine still messes up almost every other try, but I'm working on that.
When it does decide to cooperate, it does a beautiful job. It replicates crystals, metals and even plants perfectly! I've decided to try testing it on something more complex, like serums. So naturally I went and made the most complex ones I could think of.
The first one I made was a Slimify serum, which my machine replicated without a fault. While the chemical makeup appeared flawless, I wanted to check whether it would work properly on a person. I had some other plans for Lewis, so I went to the next most likely person to drink this stuff.
When Dr. Medeiros heard the words "insta-diet", she grabbed it out of my hand and drank the whole thing before I could even tell her that I didn't know the possible side-effects yet. Luckily for me, it worked perfectly. Knowing how much Dr. Medeiros likes food, I can confidently say that I'm definitely on her good side now. And that she owes me one.
The next bizarre concoction that I wanted to clone was one I came up with not long ago, and have never made before. The bio department got a batch of these strange bioluminescent mushrooms called "Ghoststools". While they are called that because they are mostly transparent and have an eerie glow, it turns out that the reason they're like that is because they actually contain traces of ectoplasmic cellular matter, meaning that they literally are ghost mushrooms. I managed to isolate that ghostly tissue and synthesize it into a serum.
Before I even got it tested, I ran to the cloning machine and made a copy. The machine was having a particularly hard time with this one, since the ecto-particles seem to elude the machine's scanner. I installed some more sensitive scanner sensors and I FINALLY managed to clone that spectral goop.
Remember I said I had other plans for Lewis? Yeah. Just like my favorite test subject usually does, he drank the serum without question. IT WORKED.
I wouldn't normally do this, but it seemed too fun to resist. I downed the cloned serum myself as soon as I saw that Lewis didn't actually die (the serum wears off after 4 hours.)
I had the time of my life. Or I guess I should say I had the time of my death. Seriously though, it was the best. I got to fly around and walk through walls... I even glowed purple. That was a nice touch.
I quickly discovered that I could go inside objects and haunt them. Of course, I used my new powers for evil. The face Dr. Causey made when I went inside the bookshelf in her office and made the books fly off the shelves and dance around her was PRICELESS.
I was still a phantom when I went back home. Archer didn't even notice me at first. It's so much easier being a jerk when you're ethereal. I floated behind him, and then, when I was uncomfortably close, I grabbed his face and licked his ear.
His scream was so high pitched that it probably made every dog on the island jump; IV'E NEVER LAUGHED SO HARD IN MY LIFE. I was worried that he might hate me for that, but once he'd calmed down and I had explained that I wasn't actually dead, he found it pretty funny too.
This Ghost Goo is truly revolutionary, and I'd write a whole research paper about it, but I have a sneaking suspicion that telling the world that I ingested some funky shrooms that turned me into a ghost for a few hours wouldn't make me sound very credible as a scientist. Fun-- maybe, but not credible. I do have some growing in my lab now. I'm far from done with this serum.
