Question for builders....

I’ve been watching a lot of speed builds and i’ve seen a lot of pictures of amazing builds that I know couldn’t build. I want to learn how to build, but whenever I get into build mode I don’t know where to start.

If you have any experience in building, how did you learn to build? Where did/do you get your inspiration for your builds?
  • I used to use blueprints of real houses I wanted to build but it didn't really get me that far and I realized that once I stopped looking at reference pictures my builds turned out so much better than before. I'm not saying you should stop using references they can really be useful in the beginning but it's really more about just trying out different things and seeing what looks good.

I also like to adapt real life floorplans to my builds.
And I start with a picture in my mind. Ask yourself in which direction you want to go. More traditional or modern? Look for pictures on the internet and get inspired.

I hardly ever watch speed builds. I tend to find them boring and most of them are edited so much it isn't helpful to me. When I like a house on the gallery I download it and take a closer look in build mode. Why do I like this particular house? What colors are used? Do the rooms flow nicely?

Usually I end up with a lot of "i would have made it different" and than I build my own.

It all starts with a wall for me. :)
