Re: Eliza Pancakes, Supervillain

Eliza had had it with Bob. Between being drooled on by Iggy, and Bob leaving slobly puddles everywhere, she was done with taking care of two children at once... the adult child was particularly offensive.

Come to think of it, the actual child kind of drove her crazy too.

So she left them, and moved out to Windenburg, ready for something new.

She was able to bring a few of her nice things with her, including her beautiful pink bed, but not everything... and the house cost absolutely everything she had. With zero simoleons to her name, she signed up for a job with a Secret Agency.

It was Sunday though. She was hungry, sad, and hadn't had her first day of work yet. Fortunately an understanding bartender took pity on her.

"Please never mention to anyone that you had to do this for me," Eliza begged the bartender.

Eliza had always aspired to climb higher in society, and now that she was rid of that embarrassing Bob, she felt confident and free to do it. Some of her old jogging buddies invited her into their club.

They were very understanding of her complaints about the divorce

Especially a handsome fellow who, it was rumored, owned a big and beautiful home in which he lived as an eligible widower.

Eliza appreciated big beautiful homes.

Perhaps she could come to appreciate the owner of one.

He called with a deeply personal question one evening shortly after they met. Eliza's heart pounded.
"I think I have a crush on...
...
...Julia Wright."

"Who?"
Jacques told Eliza a little bit about her.
"A university student? At your age?" asked Eliza. She hoped the edge in her voice sounded playful and not mean.
Jacques hung up.

Things looked brighter after Eliza's first promotion.

And she suddenly came into an inheritance from a peculiar-sounding relative who had specified what to do if she asked whether there were conditions... so she splurged on a beautiful sculpture for her garden

There aren't actually any plants in the garden yet. But the sculpture looks very fancy.

Fortunately there is a food stand in the plaza right outside her house. She isn't ready to admit that life without Bob's cooking might be a little bit harder

Fortunately, Julia wasn't willing to give an old man the time of day.

Eliza was. She invited Jacques over. She didn't come on too strong but she made him feel welcome. She learned that he was a Genius, and kind of Childish at heart. (One more big kid? Maybe a big kid with a big house is another matter...)

I wonder what his other trait could be?

Tomorrow is Harvestfest. Eliza plans to put on her best dress and impress Jacques with her cooking. And drop by and perhaps get a peek at that house. Oh, and learn to cook. Better add that to the list.

This is one of the stories I had on my 'To Read" list so I'm glad to see it here. Before this section fills up with stories and I feel guilty about not getting to all of them. 😃

On Harvestfest, Eliza allowed herself time to make enough Grand Meals at home until she got one right. She packed it up, put on her best dress, and went over to the Villareals'.
Not bad, she thought... not bad at all.

There were some weird things going on with this family for sure. Not sure which was weirder: the way Luna wandered the house on a cold fall day in her white bikini, or the way her dad lit into her.

    But they managed a dinner

And then Eliza managed some personal moments on the couch with Jacques when there were no children wandering around to bother them

And then the old man needed a nap.

Eliza did a little private dance. "It's only a matter of time," she sang to herself.

By the end of the workweek, Eliza was promoted to Secret Agent level 3. She has cool and somewhat creepy office furniture, and she can shake people's hands in a way that renders them unconscious. I feel like this could be helpful for a supervillain. Not quite sure how it translates into earning money yet exactly.

Eliza has unlocked the Workaholic lifestyle. This indicates only that the lifestyle system is not broken. All supervillains ought to be workaholics. Here she is burning the midnight oil.

Friday night came. Time to get Iggy for the weekend. He arrived with basically no skills. Eliza toted him straight upstairs for a potty training session and a lecture. "Has your father taught you nothing?"

Jacques invited himself over. Eliza ordered Zoomers and introduced him to Iggy. It seemed to go well.

On Saturday, Eliza saw that Iggy ate his leftover Zoomers, and then called a nanny so she could go to the gym with Mila Murch.

She was enjoying the scenery when... oh, a sudden phone call. Sorry, Mila, gotta go.

Eliza hopped straight over to the bar without thinking to change first. She felt embarrassed when she arrived and Jacques was looking so natty, but, he said he thought she was cute in her trucker hat. The date turned to flirty talk

    And a first kiss.

Eliza went home with plans swirling in her mind.

@mightyspritesims It’s so much to go back and reread a story. You almost always find something you missed the first time around. At the very least you get the simple pleasure of enjoying a nice little story all over again, just like that favorite book you keep reading over and over.❤️

    Aw thanks @DaniRose2143 @Ellupelluellu @simgirl1010 @rosemow !

DaniRose and I were discussing spoiler tags on the other forum.

Can anyone confirm for me whether or not spoilers would be helpful here?

So far I haven't noticed this site having the issue of the window jumping and scrolling itself up and down as it loads images without spoiler tags.

But is anyone else seeing that? Or would spoilers be nice for some other reason?

    thanks 🙂 mightysprite

The scrolling is smooth for me. I'm not noticing any jumping or lagging.

There doesn’t seem to be issues with scrolling. It all seems to be going smoothly without jumping.

  • I finally found this conversation again. I woke up during the night and grabbed my phone to check both forums which I always do when that happens. I saw this conversation but fell back to sleep before I could reply.

I'm not noticing the jumping and lag either, but I haven't seen any posts like my stories either. I have some chapters of Tartosan Sun that are close too, if not over 3K words and 25-30 pictures. I wanted to try that trick you mentioned @mightyspritesims for migrating a post over. I could try that starting with tonight's shorter chapter and we can see how it goes, and then if it works I can keep doing more. The other thing I worry about is, as the chapter count builds, and we get, what is it 50 posts/page, what will all of that unspoilered content do to the forums ability to smoothly load the page? How well would it cope if I have 10-20 of those huge posts on one page plus all the comments? I'm open to experimenting if everyone else is.

I have not seen any jumping either , here 🙂

It can be really annoying over Vanilla  , sometimes I am half done with my comment when it jumps to pictures what decide to load last ☹️

I’m not going to try bringing my chapters over without spoilers. I was just thinking, as long as they are, even if they load without the jumping and lagging You’d be scrolling forever. The display area for text is much narrower here than it is on the old forum. They’d be miles long.

I do think shorter stories like @Ellupelluellu‘s Villa Catarina and yours @mightyspritesims would be ok on here without spoilers.
