I haven't played the detective yet. I don't have a sim with the right personality and lifestyle for that yet. I have started playing the GTW doctor. I'd be interested in sending someone into the science field but I'm not interested in aliens and I have heard that it is a bit silly. My sims that would go into science are serious, studious and focused. I don't want them to goof off with lasers and to try to contact aliens.
Anyway, I would welcome a reworking of these careers and more options. What I have heard about bugged play has put me off a bit as far as playing those careers. I know about the doctor-pregnant sim bug but haven't gotten there yet in the game and will use the cheat to work around it if I have to.
Something that is probably true across the three careers that is annoying and that I've heard others complain about is the other coworkers. I understand that the goal of the career is for my sim to work but it's a little ridiculous. The orderly spends nearly the whole day goofing off. I'd like it if a sim could have more integrated team work with coworkers which would reflect real life work situations. I get it that the orderly isn't a doctor but he's pretty much hanging around and doing nothing. A doctor should be able to delegate tasks to other doctors and to the nurses. I'm guessing that stuff like that comes up in other forms in careers like the detective as well.
I liked Ambitions a lot and while I generally like Sims 4, Ambitions was stronger and more flexible than GTW. GTW is a weird mish-mash of alien play (not interesting to me) and these three sort of skeletal careers. I am mostly enjoying the doctor but it does sound like this EP could use some work. (Yes, irony).
