I'm just starting the Rosebud Challenge. I have a question for @EuphorialQueen but first, here's some back story. A while ago I created a household of 3 identical triplets before I saw the link to this challenge. The idea was that they were a genetic cloning experiment. Rose was the first Sim I created for this and then I spawned two twin sisters off of her. They look identical and all 3 have the genius trait. One has red hair, one green, and the last has blue. Each one has a different Aspiration so that I could have them explore Knowledge, Cooking, and Music careers, and each one's second trait is related to their Aspiration. Each one's third trait was chosen for personality variation. But basically I saved that household but never got around to doing the story and never used them in any other save game.
Since I already had these Sims in the bank so to speak I decided to extract Rose out of the household as a single Sim and plop her into the Rosebud Challenge. Hey, her name was already Rose and her hair is red so it fits with the ROSEbud Challenge, right? Since I never did do the original story I had in mind for her and her sisters I want to carry over the concept of the genetic clones in the challenge. I like the idea of just concentrating on a single Sim rather than have her move in a male Sim to have babies with which would end up giving me a minimum 3 member household. I was wondering if it would be okay for her to "reproduce" via cloning instead of having a baby? She can still have a boyfriend if that develops but we'll see.
The idea I was thinking of was when Rose becomes an elder she would "clone" herself by adding Gwen (the green haired twin) to the household. That would give Rose time to pass the baton, so to speak, to her clone before she dies of old age. Eventually when Gwen reaches elder I would have her "clone" herself by adding Briana (the blue haired one) to the household in the same way. This way I wouldn't have to deal with more than 2 Sims at a time and only for a little bit as the elder stage of the outgoing Sim overlaps with the young adult stage of the incoming Sim.
My thought on how to accomplish this based on the challenge rules was to plop the sister into the homeless population and then have her move in. Of course I would have to go find her in the world and convince her to move in which isn't really like cloning yourself and having that person be a part of your household. I guess I would have to add the next clone to an existing homeless Sim household so she doesn't bring in the §20k as well. You don't get §20k just because you clone yourself.
So my question is this: Can I just add the next clone to the household when that time comes instead of having to hunt her down in the population and ask to move in? Thanks.
I'm not good at writing story blogs and remembering to take screenshots and apparently I can't post links here. However, if you type in the URL for YouTube and then ad the following text inside the quotes "/playlist?list=PLfOh_lwDoAi8C-EqOCPdqVtsQiMy1FfIM" to the end of it you can find my playlist.
This sounds like a cool and unique way to play this challenge. I hope you will keep us posted on your progress. B) Have fun -EQ
