Well, bills were due and it was a lot more money than Ru had. He began spending all of his free time using the school's art supplies to paint and sell his paintings on plopsy. After he could pay his bills, maybe he could focus on his sports like he wanted. He realized that living on his own was more difficult than he'd thought it'd be.

Ru was starting to make friends at school too. Aiden, the teen he'd met at the hot springs, turned out to not be so bad after all. They hung out at lunch with a girl who was terrified of failing her exams. She spent the entire lunch time with a sad expression, furiously studying. Ru didn't catch her name.

The only bad thing about school was that for some reason, his teacher found him suspicious and was always calling him out in class to try to make him look bad. Fortunately, Ru was a pretty good student. He knew most of the answers to the questions his teacher asked. He wasn't sure what he'd done to deserve the suspicion from Mr. Epps.

His dad called one day and reminded him that he needed to stay on top of his magical training as well. He had been neglecting it, so it was off to the dueling grounds to duel his dad.
