@DaniRose2143, I'm going to agree with @Ellupelluellu and say go with what feels right for the story. Of course, I'm the guy who appears to consider around 1000 words to be a long post so I may not be the very best judge of these things :) ... but honestly, I don't think about word count. I just go with what I need to tell the part of the story that I have. I tend to think about it in terms of a good TV show and where an exciting spot for a commercial break or even a dramatic "To Be Continued" might appear.
